Another Silly DDP Question

Hey again, friendly WDWMagic Folks.

I have been trying to figure things out for my November trip, and originally I was going to stay with some relatives down there, but due to complications that would either cause headaches or more costs, I decided to go on my own and get my own room at a resort. (gonna try the Pop Century for the first time)

I may have also convinced some friends to come with me. We did the math, and with the basic Dining plan, the price works out for everyone. I however, would like to try the deluxe dining plan so I can eat wherever I want.

My question: If I were to purchase the Basic (1 TS, 1 CS, 1S) as the plan for the whole package, could I personally upgrade mine to Deluxe upon arrival at the resort?

Wow, I ramble. Anywho, thanks for your help! You guys make vacations so much easier.

No. Everybody on the same reservation has to have the same package. After arrival, the tickets associated with the packages can be individually upgraded, but because the Dining Plan has to be added in advance, you aren't supposed to be able to make individual changes.

If you can live with the regular DDP, you can always ask on check-in, but since all the credits are available on all the room keys, I'm reasonably sure you can't.

If you book the regular DDP, you can use those credits and pay OOP once you run out.

That is true. I suppose I don't need a deluxe plan, as I won't be doing many signature dining options. In fact the only real dining thing i want to do, I'd have to pay out of pocket anyway (dine with an Imagineer)

I was just curious if the option was there, but as it's not, I know we'll figure something out. It may end up being a solo trip, and I'll get to do the Deluxe anyway.

You could always book seperate rooms and have your own name on your reservation and have the deluxe on yours. Then you can still split costs with whomever will be bunking in your room and you just pay what the dufference would be with the deluxe dining.
Just an idea.
The regular plan is a decent amount of food, though. :)

just go with the regular plan - with (2) Options

1) Pay out of pocket when they eat at non-signature. Save your credits for Signature dining (you dont have to be on Deluxe to eat there)

2) Pay out of pocket at the Signature TS places.
