Another prayer request.

This request is not for me though.

A friend of mine was in a serious car wreck last week. His boss was driving him home at 2 a.m. when a semi either hit the car or cut it off (not sure which) and kept going. The impact of the car flipping caused Richard's seat belt to break, and he was thrown from the car. He went through surgery to remove a blood clot in his lung. His spine was broken, but not severed. Nerve damage is so severe that he may never walk again. Doctors can't even estimate what the chances will be.

Last I heard, Richard could understand when people are talking to him. He uses a hand signal to show that he can hear them. Only his family and girlfriend have been allowed to visit him in ICU.

Also pray for Richard's boss. Although he wasn't hurt badly enough to require medical attention, I can only imagine the pain he feels. If I was in this situation, even if I wasn't to blame, the guilt I would feel couldn't be expressed with words.

Finally, pray for his family, including his extended chorus family. We will be supporting him throughout his recovery. We hope to organize a bowl-a-thon or other fundraiser to help pay the hospital bills.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Your prayers are appreciated.

I'll add him, his boss, his family, and all of his friends to my prayers. What a difficult time for you...as Josh said, hang in there!

Last year we had a co-worker who was in a car wreck where a guy hit her from behind. She was in ICU for months, and she was not supposed to walk again. I happy to say that she is back at work and doing wonderfully. This just shows that with alot of prayers and a strong will things can work out. Just tell him to keep the faith and stay strong.

An update about Richard:

He's paralyzed from the chest down, but otherwise doing very well. He's already out of ICU and in rehab working on his upper body strength. Hopefully he will make a speedy recovery!:)

I´m so glad to hear he is not fully paralyzed! I hope his spine is not too damaged and he can walk again soon!

I have heard of people who were told they would not walk again and they are doing it thanks to the faith they had and a lot of therapy... both physical and emotional.

I´ll have him, his relatives and of course, his poor boss in my prayers. Please keep us posted with his situation.

I have more good news about Richard!!!

He's doing well. Some chorus rehearsals are being held at the hospital so he can participate. I've heard that his singing voice sounds better than it did before the crash!

He made a visit to school last week and hopes to return soon. He might even perform at state chorus festival in a few weeks!!!:)

Silly, thanks for the update. Richard (and his family, friends, etc.) will remain in my prayers...he still has a long, difficult struggle. I'm glad to see that things are looking up a bit. :)
