Trip Report Another one of Dray's live trip report attempts (How we learned to love 2008) Now with pictures!!

First off, kudos to you if you got my vague reference in the title. Here's a hint, Stanley Kubrick.

Ok, the cast contains the 4 usual suspects:

Me, Dave. 30 something. I like long romantic walks on the beach and cuddly kittens. Oh, and MMA, the History Channel and my family.

Amy, 30ish and a stay at home mom. She loves to craft stuff and Hocus Pocus.

Ashley, 15 years of age and she is infatuated with Monster High dolls and anime.

Justin, 14 and he also loves anime and video games.

Peanut, our bun in the oven and her interests include kicking momma in the ribs and being lugged around like luggage.

We flew in back on the 10th. We landed around 2:45 and grabbed our stuff from the claim area and headed to the Alamo area. Had a little hiccup there, we found out that Florida now charges some fee that's $2 per day, which explained the difference in the price on my itinerary and what the kiosk showed.

After a few minutes in line, the kind fellow at the counter squared us away and we headed to the garage to pick up our horseless carriage. We have 8 suitcases and a huge over the shoulder bag, so we always get a mid size suv. We prefer a Ford Escape, but the only one they had was taken. So, we grabbed an available Nissan Rogue, which barely fit our stuff. Lesson learned, from now on it will be a standard suv.

Anyways, we headed to grab a bite at McDonald's and then to check in at the Super 8 Orlando. We were extremely surprised at how nice the rooms were, and only at $59 a night. We headed to the outlet malls on International Drive and the one at Vineland. This was just a one night stay, so we headed back to the room and got some shut eye.

The next morning we packed up and drove over to the Royal Pacific Resort to check in and get our Express Passes. The room wasn't ready, so we parked and grabbed our Express Passes and walked to the parks. We picked up our renewed APs and off we went. I believe we hit Men In Black first and then headed to E.T. before taking in a viewing of the Horror Make Up show. We absolutely love that show.

We generally split up for about half of the day because the ladies like to partake in the thrill rides, while us two gentlemen like to take it easy and relax. We absolutely love Universal and we spent 3 days there. On Sunday we managed to take in two Make Up shows and during the final one, I was "that guy" that didn't help Mickey James when she was "dying". Even when you know what's coming it's still hilarious.

We checked out of the RPR this morning and checked into the French Quarter today. Our room wasn't ready but he told us we'd be in building 3, so that's cool. We didn't have any breakfast, so we high tailed it over here to the Studios and ate at Pizza Planet. Now we're standing in line to see Phineas and Ferb, and that's where I'm writing this little TR from.

One thing I must say is WHAT HAPPENED TO SEPTEMBER? Holy cow, is this NOT dead.....

It's very crowded. I would compare this to April. Too bad we were spoiled by having the Express Pass. Now back to third class with the rest of the peasants.

Also, if you're familiar with my style then you know I won't be adding pictures until we get home on the 23rd. Sorry folks, but I'm not good at using Photobucket on the go.

And one more thing.....my son and I have now maxed out on Men In Black. As a matter of fact, I've done it 3 times now.

......to be continued.

Another lazy day, as if you expected anything less. Holy crap, is it busy here...

The line for the Express monorail was 5 switchbacks deep. Lucky for us, most of those rookies didn't realize that you can hop on the resort line. Otherwise, it would have taken an hour just to get across the lake.

We grabbed a bite to eat at Pinocchio Village Haus. The ladies are using their Fastpasses for Mine Train while the son and I take a trip on the Speedway. Our original plans called for us to head to Disney Springs around 330 for our 4 o'clock ADR at TRex and then to Universal for Horror Nights, but we might leave earlier and cancel the ADR. That's how crowded and miserable it is here.

With the Mrs. being pregnant, we have tried slowing it down a bit. Plus, we're trying to do some of the stuff we've not done before.

Glad that one of the attractions you finally got to see in Epcot yesterday, was the American Adventure. I really enjoy that pavilion. I love the group of singers in that wide open entrance room, prior to when the guests go up to the theater. The whole attraction is so nicely done.

Sorry to hear about the heat and the crowds today at MK. (Be sure to drink enough water and pace yourselves.)

So far we've done the Monsters of Mayhem and Freddy vs Jason and right now we're in line for the Insidious house. Crowds be danged, we're having a blast. I wish we had sprung for the Express Pass for tonight or at least made it to the early preview to assure that we would see them all.

I always feel like we've gotten our money's worth at these events, even if we don't hit all of the houses and shows. The only things we don't like are the drunks and the people smoking in line.

By a stroke of luck, we were able to finish all 9 houses with about 4 minutes left to spare. I would rank them in the following order:

1. Insidious
2. Monsters of Mayhem
3. American Werewolf in London
4. Freddy vs Jason
5. The Walking Dead
6. Body Collector
7. Asylum in Wonderland
8. The Purge
9. Run: Blood, Sweat & Fears

I would rank Run even lower if it were possible. That house was extremely weak. Luckily for us, we did it towards the end so we literally walked right in.

We had an absolute blast. We were very close to shelling out the cash to make sure we saw all of the houses...glad we didn't.

Believe it or not, we got up early today and had an 8:40 ADR at the Crystal Palace. Chomped down some good food and now the ladies are riding the Mine Train while we head to Buzz. Gonna be another long day, as today is our second party.

Busy?? NOOOOOO! Lol! Ugh, I'm so hoping it's not super crazy crowded when we go. It probably will be, I just need to accept that haha! But wow, I was planning on using the monorail, but now not so sure...

Horror nights!! I follow a couple from Orlando on YouTube, and they vlog about HHN and I soooo want to check it out some time. Can't this year, but maybe another time if we ever make it back during the Halloween season. But awesome y'all got to see all the houses! Crazy how long those waits can be!

The monorail has been down most of the time when we first get here. Let me rephrase that, the Express monorail has been down/busted almost every day. We just hop on the resort monorail and luckily most people don't know about that "secret".

The houses were pretty good and we were surprised that we made them all. I think it went something like this:

Monsters 30 minutes
Jason vs Freddy 60 minutes
Insidious 80 minutes
Walking Dead 45 minutes
Purge 40 minutes
Asylum 40 minutes
Run walk in
Body Collector 15 minutes
American Werewolf 10 minutes

In that precise order. We left right at 1 am and Freddy vs Jason was still at 60 minutes.

Another semi late day and we're at the Studios. It's pretty dang crowded here. The Okay Movie Ride is the shortest wait at 40 minutes. We already used our Fastpasses for Toy Story and so far I have the top score for the day at 266k. We'll see how long that lasts.

We have ADRs at Sci Fi at 12:55 and after that we actually have to take a trip to Walmart to get a refill of my son's anti-seizure pills. We're debating hitting another park when we come back, maybe Epcot or Animal Kingdom and then coming back for Extra Magic Hours.

Forgot to add that the party last night was great. We got full bags of candy, rode tons of stuff and had no problems getting our usual viewing spot for the second parade. Captain Jack did his little charm thing but made a backing motion when I shook my head no at him. Well done, face character.

We saw some pretty cool costumes and had a great time. And for the second time since we've been doing the parties I had a guy ask to take a picture with me. Good stuff.

We left the parks after lunch and ran our errand. Oops, we went to the wrong Walmart. We went to the one on Vineland instead of the one on Vine. I didn't realize that the one on Vine was actually Vine. I thought that was 192. Oh well. We headed back to the resort to pick up our delivered blanket that we got from the Mexican pavilion. That's our soon to be born child's first Disney World bought souvenir.

We got back to the Studios around 4:45 and we headed to the Epcot water taxi. We got off at the Swan & Dolphin and hoofed it the rest of the way. The plan was to get a few rides in and head back to Pizza Planet around 7 for dinner. Apparently we were t the only ones with that time in mind. It took about 25 minutes to get our food and we had the sense of mind to have the kids find a table when we first arrived.

We gobbled that down and headed to Toy Story in hope of a decent wait time during Fantasmic....not happening. It's posted at 95 minutes and I'm barely hearing any English here. It's probably more like 70 minutes but this is still nuts. Oh well. After this the Mrs. and the daughter will go hit the ToT and Aerosmith during the next Fantasmic while us gents do the movie ride and probably another round of Toy Story. Then we'll do another ride on TSMM as a family and it should be time to hit the sack.

Tomorrow is our last day in the parks, very bittersweet. I'm ready for the cooler weather back home and no foreigners, but I'm not ready to go back to work.

That was so sweet to read that you and your wife bought your "first souvenir" (blanket from Mexico pavilion) for your soon to be, new arrival.

I can't believe the long wait times for some of the rides; it's a weekday, and aren't most kids back in school now? (Do the foreign kids have a different vacation time, than the kids in the U.S., perhaps?)

Hope you all have a safe trip home tomorrow, and I don't blame you for not wanting to go back to work this week either. I work all week, and that's why when I come home, I like to read about vacations at WDW to take my mind off the "real" world! :)

The amount of Portuguese/Spanish speaking guests is astronomical compared to any of our previous trips, including 2 March trips, a February trip and an April trip.

Thanks for taking time out of your vacation to post all this. Sounds like aside from the crowds that you guys are having a blast. Great report!

Absolutely! I think that since we've been fortunate to come here so much, I've been able to really just take it easy and enjoy it all.

We slept in a bit, as usual. However, I was able to be productive, as I booked our Free Dining bounceback for next September. We'll be staying at the Beach Club for 9 nights, just a garden view. And we'll be renewing our APs of course.

We got to the MK about 20 minutes ago and we're grabbing a bite at Cosmic Rays. After that were going to enjoy our last day here. Sadly, tonight's Halloween party is sold out but I plan on having fun anyways.
