Another Measles exposure contact at Disneyland

unmitigated disaster

You still get shots? How many adults get booster shots? That’s one thing I was wondering. I literally have zero adult family and friends tell me they went to go get a vaccine other then the flu shot. If adults aren’t getting booster shots then how is herd immunity even possible? Couldn’t this also be contributing to the resurgence of some of these diseases.
No. It's parents who are anti-vaxxers who are the issue. Last year or the year before something like only 67% of kindergartners in the Phoenix area were vaccinated. That's not nearly enough for herd immunity.

Even though I stay up to date with all my vaccines and boosters and such, I am scared about this problem. I know it's been said here and elsewhere over and over but I don't understand how parents can claim they care so much about their child that they don't want to vaccinate them so they don't develop autism. The echo chamber that is the internet allows this behavior to happen with any subject and I have already seen it happen in so many aspects of my life that I can not imagine what it is going to be like in the near future trying to have any sort of discussion on a topic you disagree on.

So, why aren't they highlighting all the other diseases people are exposed to at Disneyland?

Imagine, if you will, how often people who are contagious but not showing symptoms go to theme parks worldwide...

Have people forgotten how to take care of themselves by washing their hands, avoiding licking hand rails or ride seats, and the like?
I would dash away if I saw someone licking a ride seat.

I do tetenus prevention because of the wild creatures where I live- and those kids play with woodland animals. That and my penchant for antique tools that are often rusty when I get them.

Here, have some data to go with your discussion. Because, SCIENCE!

Recommended adult vaccination schedule:

US vaccination statistics based on demographics:
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/immunize.htm (fast look)
(details)

Scroll down to the "mechanism" section and there is a cool graphic showing the herd immunity thresholds required for different diseases based upon the R0 values (In plain English: HIT = the % of the population that needs to be immune to prevent an outbreak; R0 = how many people an infected person can infect if the population is not immune (notice the measles numbers!!)):

Notice that you need 92-95% immunity to prevent a Measles outbreak. Now compare that to the vaccination statistics. And people wonder why we keep having outbreaks.

Yes, that's it! It had the word "herpes" in it, and I could only think how trampy that was. But I got the shot anyway.

most people are first exposed to HSV-1 between the ages of 1 and 5. mostly by contact of parents, during birth or from sibling. 1 in 2 adults usually carry the HSV-1 virus but stays dormant.

So TP2000 no worries we won't think you are Trampy unless you want us to think you are? LOL

Not only oral herpes, but lots and lotsof people contract some strain of HPV sometime in their sexual lives.

Nothing to be ashamed of.

well HSV-1 is what causes oral herpes or what is most notably called mouth sores or cold sores and is quite common. You might be thinking more of the HSV-2 type which is a bit more to be concerned about and causes genital herpes as well as oral herpes and is mostly transmitted by sexual contact.

Phew! Thank you both.

Just like Star Wars Land, that disease and its vaccine manufacturer needs a better marketing campaign. They should remove the word "herpes" from its marketing because it just sounds trampy, just like Mr. Chapek should remove the word "immersive" from his Talking Points because it just sounds idiotic.

No, I’m referring to oral herpes. HPV is different from HSV though. I was referring to both. ;)
