Another Magical Disney Cast Member in the News

I figured I'd throw this out there for discussion since it seems pretty obvious Disney's "background checks" let this nutjob slip through the cracks. What's sad is that he was such a problem that he became known across several departments for his antics, both off stage and on stage.

Barber's close friend, Vikki Reed, said she thought Barber met Deo through an online dating service. At first, Kline and Reed said, Deo seemed financially stable, intelligent and devoted. He frequently took her to Walt Disney World, where he worked for a time, and claimed to be a financial analyst.

But there was another side to Deo. He was sentenced to four months in prison and 300 hours of community service in 1997 after pleading guilty to mail and bankruptcy fraud.

Robert Deo wanted to know where his live-in girlfriend, Christina Barber, was at all times.

When she tried to break up with him, he called, e-mailed and sent her text messages more than a dozen times a day and threatened to kill himself.

On Friday night, Deo made good on his threat -- after, investigators say, he killed Barber, 36, at her DeBary home.

Only in Orlando. The article doesn't dwell on it, it's only mentioned in the context of he took her to WDW a lot, because he worked there for a time. :shrug:

Without giving too much information away, yes, he worked for Disney after his original incarcerations. There is also documentation of "incidents" involving Mr. Deo and his harassment of other cast members across the entire resort (like I said, he was infamous). There are other layers to this story with regards to Disney that have not been revealed.

You'd think a story in the local NEWSpaper about a murderous WDW CM might qualify as well being worthy of being in the NEWS forum.

I guess he should have committed his horrific crime while wearing Mouse ears and lanyard?
