What a surprise! I know that many at SeaWorld didn't think she was due for a few months. My SeaWorld connection continues the curse of being scheduled off work every single time there is a new baby whale, so I have not yet seen any photos.
If things are true to form, there will be no "real" Shamu shows for several days. Too bad that SeaWorld holiday weekend visitors won't understand that the possible opportunity to see a baby whale is far more special than seeing the regular show. There will be a lot of guest complaints, sadly.
One more related item... this has of course brought all construction on the new set to a complete halt for a while. That may delay its completion, since they didn't have big windows of time to work with in the first place.
At any rate, congrats to the new mamma whale. Baby orcas are soooo cute.
