Trip Report Another Jolly Holiday ~ JOY From the World ! *COMPLETED*

At the conclusion of my last trip report
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-jingle-bam-birthday-completed.922901/
I ended with To be continued....

Well, here's the continuation. :) Though to be fair, the trips were totally different and not connected in any way except they both included Me (yep, a humble one I am!) And for the second time in a year, I left WDW only to return a week later. I am very grateful that I can visit my favorite place as often as I do and am honored that y'all follow along.

I booked this trip on a bounce back offer while vacationing last year:
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/its-a-jolly-holiday-completed.909445/

And this year I may have booked a bounce back offer for December 2017. Okay, I did book. But my love/hate relationship with traveling in December and a few unknowns for the fall may cause me to cancel. Time will tell.

Ready to read about our latest adventures? There's DRAMA :jawdrop:. And ELEVATOR COOKIES . And maybe even a RED CARD ;).

Dates: December 10-15, 2016
Resort: Disney's Wilderness Lodge (duh....it's Christmas!)
Cast: Tuvalu and Woody

Ha! I have an almost identical picture from my trip the other week. The People Mover is the best for resting -- it feels so nice to actually be able to put your feet up (though I suspect the cast members probably frown on this behavior )

Thanks for another fantastic trip report :)
Thanks for reading. Here's to the People Mover foot rest!! :cautious: :joyfull:

I had to make one of your Flag retreat pics my desktop picture on my work computer! Nothing beats a little bit of Disney with some patriotism.
I am touched.

How can Woody not look to his right???
I had the same thing on my ride picture from Dec with a guy looking straight forward
The dino is pretty big and pretty loud at that point!!!

Max
Woody keeps his eyes closed the entire ride! (But I keep mine closed on Star Tours ~ the things couples do for each other!)

I still have to correct a friend of mine about the difference. :banghead::banghead:

When I was really small there was not a WDW so we went to DL. My Dad never got past the DL name, always with him both coasts were DL. On a whim on the drive down to Miami he took a detour for us to make a quick stop at the New Disneyland they built in Florida. Never got past that.

Wednesday (con't)

I saw a lovely sight in front of the train station ~ the train!!!! For the first time this trip, the train was working WOOT WOOT!! I told Woody I wanted to ride the MPB first. We emerged from the tunnel just as the Flag Retreat Ceremony was beginning. We climbed the steps and stood silently to watch this reverent ritual.

While we have watched this ceremony before from ground level, we really enjoyed the better view from the top of the train station. Seeing the care taken with our flag is a great reminder that we citizens are all part of the United States of America, even though we have our differences. And we should never take our freedom for granted. To all active or retired military....THANK YOU.

Finally aboard the MPB.

Love ridin' the rails!

I have not seen the Retreat in many many years. Thanks for the pic's. A nice reminder. It is also nice to spy the one CM that was obviously military at some point in his life.

Thursday, December 15

Typically the last day of vacation is melancholy for me, but not today. We'd soon be celebrating Tuvalette's first Christmas and visits from out-of-town family....there was much to look forward to!

And gone would be the stress of wondering if the broken elevator was fixed....our slow last ride down was confirmation that the other elevator was still not operating. (7 days!! And no notification or apology from a WL manager to all resort guests....just a couple days of elevator operators and cookies....poor form, Disney!)

Woody and I dropped off our luggage at the resort airline check in desk and made the quick walk to the bus stop. Just like last night, our bus was waiting for us AND we had another private ride!

But where were we going?

Well Huh. AK would have been my last guess for your family for your last few hours, color me curious.

We'd worked up quite an appetite on our 2 week (ok, 20 minute) safari. And despite my 1.2 million visits to the world, we were about to try a new experience for breakfast.

We had not dined at Tusker House since it ceased to be a counter-service restaurant a dozen or so years ago. My brother T has raved about Tusker House breakfast for several years now so Woody and I decided to give it a try.

There are several large dining areas.

I was a bit crestfallen when we were led to a tiny room off to the side. I knew it would be a challenge when the characters stopped by.

Our hostess commented how "nice" it was that we had our own room. But it wasn't our own room for long....the few tables filled up quickly and the narrow aisle made it difficult to make trips to the buffet.

I wasn't as thrilled with the offerings here as I am with the buffets at 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Captain's Grille.

But there is Jungle Juice. :hungry: When our server asked Woody if he wanted Jungle Juice and he replied, "Yes" this was me:
:jawdrop:

Jungle Juice is POG (pineapple, orange, guava) juice. Woody has been exposed to POG juice lots of times at the Poly and 1900 Park Fare. He always declines it. He knows I love it and will give me his glass if one is poured for him.

"You know that's POG juice," I said.
"It's not too bad," he replied. "I like it." :banghead:
(I plan to remind him of this on our next stay at the Poly!)

I really liked Tuskers as a QS. Their Sandwiches were beyond awesome. Me, I haven't cared for either Breakfast of Lunch-Dinner. I found both meh. The Love of it all does escape me. Me, in my least favorite park head to Yak or Flame depending on the weather. But so often we are in and out without the need for meal...much like the Studios the last few visits.

I had to pose because I knew Woody wouldn't. I don't think he has ever seen the dinosaur.

Pose? Woody kinda looks like he is off in his own thoughts and daydreams. But kudos to Woody, his Artsy shots are awesome. I'm impressed. Is this where Em gets her talents from? Happy to see the Monkeys back though, missing our last trip *phew* they didn't get the axe.

Happy belated birthday - see that's what happens when you don't check in for a couple of days!
Can't believe your not back until April - I am sure another trip will be sneaked in somewhere.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us - and for riding BTMRR and eating ice cream while thinking of me - I might not have been there in person but was in spirit

Now you need to keep working on yours! :geek:

Yay!!! April trip coming so soon :)
@TrolleyFollower91 and I can't wait!

Great report!! DH and I are headed down for F&G from April 29-May 6, maybe we will see yoi!
I will be there during your dates :)

Thanks for another great trip report. Keep 'em coming! I still have at least a year before I'll be back :(.
Poor Woody! It figures that the only construction noise you heard was at a time when you needed quiet. Especially since you had a rather out of the way spot.
LOVED the themed wreaths. I love WL. Hope I get to stay there some Christmas season. Thinking about WL makes me want a Magic Cookie Bar from Roaring Fork :hungry:!
Looking forward to reading about the April mother daughter meet up with you, @TrolleyFollower91 and @Doc Disney and her mom.
I hope your next trip is during the holidays at WL!

Fantastic report!!! I feel like I am there.... I wish I was:(
Do you have a trip planned for 2017?

Great trip report :)
Thank you!

WL is my favorite hotel on WDW property. (And it's even nicer when all the elevators are working! :p But then again, when they are, you don't get cookies. ;) )
Yeah those cookies were almost worth a broken elevator.......
