Another dining plan question

Hey All.

I was just on another disney site, allearsnet.com and was reading the recent reviews of the dining plans.

A lot of people were saying how terrible the kids meals were as there is so little to choose from.

My questions is, can my DH and me get the dining plan and not get if for our DS(3)?

Like I mentioned in other posts of mine, my DS is super picky. I know I can always get him to eat fries and you can't get them at most restaurants.

Plus, they only offer sugar free jello for dessert at most places, which is not a healthy thing for a 3 yr old. I believe it has aspartaine(sp) in it and can give a young kid heart palpitations.

Thanks

Sorry do not know the answer to your question as not yet used the plan. First time this year!! :sohappy:

However I saw your comment that you can't get fries at most resturants, is this fact or just an assumption? I have read through lots of menus and a fair few do not mention fries however I think we assumed that you must be able to substitute fries at all resturants especially with all the kids that must visit WDW.

Can anyone else clarify do the majority of resturants offer fries and allow you to swap for other potato choices for these?

Panicking a bit now as if not many places have chips then would not be worth our while as the men in our family don't eat any other potato choices.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

All individuals in the same room must have the same package. So if you get DDP, so does DS3.

I've read that most restaurants will provide fries if requested, whether they're on the menu of not. If in doubt, call the restaurants in question and ask.

We just used the DDP in Jan 2007, and had 2 kids on the plan. the fries are listed on the counter service menus when you get there, very fine print, but it is listed. Do not even ask them, just tell them, cuz that is what the menu says. I have heard on a nother post that if you ask they may deny you. THis did not happen to us at all. In fact, you get 2 sides with each kids meal and you can get double fries. That is what worked for us.

Sugar Free Jell-O uses Splenda and that has been deemed safe for all ages, but using artificial sweeteners is a personal thing so thats up to you.

I have also read that some places are going back to the older style kid's menu because of backlash...offering healthy options is fine, but not all people want to take advantage of it just yet.

Thanks luv2ash. That is good to know. My son is not going to eat any sides by french fries. If he won't eat the actual meal, at least he will eat the fries and not be hungry. Not the healthiest, but better than nothing

I hope a lot of the places go back to the older menu. It is really unfair to the kids.

I hate splenda. I would never make my ds eat that and I know he wouldn;t either as he is super picky. MY DH can't eat splenda as he does get the heart palpitation real bad.

Just to confirm what MontyMon has said, unfortunately all members of the party must be on the plan.

THanks Monty and Meryll.

THat totally sucks. But it will probably still be cheaper in the long run even if ds hardly eats anything
