So according to this map, Disney owns the Alpine Inn and is leasing it back (red arrow)? Also, why are these other properties (red X) part of the Disneyland resort but not owned by Disney (Anaheim hotel property for example)?

Dr. Moreno brought up the funding for the parking structure to try and make a point, but in the end, the vote was 7-0 that TWDC did act in good faith in meeting the development agreement.

By the way, while Dr. Moreno claims it was Anaheim Taxpayers who paid for the M&F Structure, it was funds from other government agencies ($113.5 million). (Federal, State and County).

>>Caltrans, the California agency in charge of the highway system, was anxious to rebuild the Orange County section of Interstate 5. This important freeway connected San Diego, Disneyland, Los Angeles, Burbank, and points north. Money to widen the freeway and to install High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes for carpools had been raised by Measure M, a County funding measure. Pressure from Caltrans is one reason why Disney felt it had to act now. If Disney wanted to have the carpools lanes drop cars directly into the parking garages they had to make commitments soon.<<

>>The effort to get the Federal government to pay for the parking structures failed. The request was for $223 million but the Federal contribution was limited to $17.5 million. The state of California tossed in $60 million and Orange County paid $36 million. Disney was starting to get cold feet and the community’s opposition to the project was not helping.<<

I wish it was more strict for for profit company to receive tax contributions to pay for a freaking parking garage!? Let Disney pay for next planned parking garage! Tax payers should be expecting the freeway improvements not a parking garage that only benefit a corporation!

From what I remember, Disney bought the Alpine Inn in preparation for the Eastern Gateway project (that didn't end up happening).

Pixar Pals went up without public funds and we don't see Disney asking for help with the Eastern Gateway. Things seem to have changed with the company. (If I'm mistaken, please let me know.)

Wow, good catch about the Alpine Inn. It is clearly labeled that way. That seems to be true.

The green area is the area covered by the specific plan, which is basically what it sounds like. It's a plan from the city about a specific area that designates goals, zoning, regulations, requirements, etc. The Anaheim Resort area has a specific plan, and the Disneyland Resort area has a plan within that plan. They are not limited by property ownership and the boundaries are set by the city to ensure development heads in the direction that the city wants to see.

At the time of the garage's creation, Anaheim was pitted against Long Beach for the fictitious Disney Epcot Sea project. I feel this was one of the carrots Anahiem helped with to get that second park.

Pretty sure you're right here. Disney has learned their lesson.

The black overlays are showing what Disney owns in Anaheim. It does not show they own the land that Alpine Inn, AGW, Anaheim Hotel sits on.
The green shade have to deal with ideal land use for entertainment use pertaining to the area. Actually I like to know more about the details about Disneyland specific plan.

Pretty sure you're right here. Disney has learned their lesson.

They learned their lesson because the M&F parking garage deal of 1996 was the only thing that Disney got paid for by taxpayers.

It's the only thing that a Socialist decades later can point to and claim "Disney doesn't pay its fair share!"

That's it. That's all there is to that argument. Nothing else.

Eisner shouldn't have been so cheap and just built his own parking garage, even though a valid argument can be made that taxpayers should help mitigate impacts to local road infrastructure. It wasn't worth it. It's the only thing the Socialists and anti-business politicians have had for decades as an example of an evil corporation like Disney using tax dollars.

The Alpin Inn is the area pointed to with the red arrow and falls within the black stripes.
