Annual Passholder rate through August?

I see that there is a general public discount code out for the resorts through August 14 but there is no corresponding code for AP holders. Usually the AP code comes out just before the general public code. The code that is out now for AP only goes through June. What's up with that?

Wish I knew. This is the first time that I can think of that a general public code came out before an AP code. Maybe they are just trying something new to see how it works.

Does it matter? AP holders can use those discounts too.

I thought the same thing as well but it actually does matter if you want the dining plan as an AP holder. To use this discount code and get the dining plan you must purchase at least a one day ticket.

Yep. This is the only reason I'm waiting on AP rates for summer. We have a room only ressie at the YC for July, saving 40%. (bounceback rate). However, we'd like to add the DDP, and we have no use for a one day base ticket. So as long as the AP discount is 40% off or better, I'll cancel the room only ressie and book a passholder plus dine pacakge. I'm sure there will be AP rates, it is just a matter of when they are released.

Correct me if I'm wrong..maybe Master Yoda?...but usually the AP code is discounted at least 5 per cent more than the general public code, so that's why I'm waiting.

YankeeMouse, you are correct in that AP rates typically are 5% more discounted than general public rates. For our April trip, we are saving 45% at the GF, whereas the general public savings is 40%.

Joe, we've used AP rates the past 2 Julys at WL. Most resorts were available, but higher room categories. (i.e. no garden view at Poly, only lagoon or TPV)

Pretty simple - we got screwed. Yup, I'm an AP as well. And seriously thinking about not renewing next year, as the GP offers are about as good (or BETTER) than the AP offers.

AP room discounts are NEVER guaranteed - never have been, never will. If you purchased the AP for room discounts then you purchased it for the wrong reason.

AP rates for last summer weren't released until early May - so, historically, you haven't been screwed - yet.

To heck with AP rates this summer. We used a bounceback offer. We got a water view room at Yacht Club for $252 per night. That room is usually $420 per night. Staying for 13 nights that's a total savings of $2,457!!!

I'm aware of that. Neither are discounts for the GP guaranteed. In this case? GP is better than AP - ergo, AP holders got screwed.

I don't see how you feel that. If there's no guarentee we will get them, how did we get screwed? There are plenty of other benefits for AP holders. I was there last week in January and saved 20% off of every souvenier I purchased, as well as saving 10% at many restaurants. I can deal with those discounts. I would just take the GP and be happy you got anything at all. I'll take my bounceback discount of 40% anyday over the typical AP discount.

You can use the GP discounts, so you aren't being "screwed." Point of fact, you don't have to worry about admission costs. You get food discounts and tour discounts, etc. The only way you'd be "screwed" is if you couldn't book any GP discounts.

If the AP discount is generally 40 % off at the dlx. and the bounceback is generally 40 % off the same resorts then taking either one would be fine. The current offer to the GP doesn't allow AP's to add dining without purchasing one day base tickets for each person in the room. This adds a big chunk of $$ to the cost which reduces the discount.

We are coming from Illinois. Both trips are looking at being between 7-8 nights. The cost of the ap's for us is right on the line vs. buying the 7 day base tickets. We won't hop around to the various parks, we might go back to the resort for a break, or to a resort dinner, but base tickets would give us what we need. So we don't need to add the hopping costs.

I agree with Trotsky on this one. I think if this trend continues they might see fewer long distance AP holders. We haven't purchased our AP's yet. We have two trips planned, but we are thinking of sticking with base tickets and making only one trip instead of 2 or 3.

Hey all, The reason to own an AP always was and probably will always be, the ability to pay a discounted price for admission to the Disney Theme parks ( Water parks etc for PAP holders)for an extended period of time. Room discounts, merchandise discounts, food discounts, are all nice perks but arent guaranteed and do change year to year. If you are purchasing an AP strictly for room discounts, you are probably doing yourself a disservice as many package offers are truly better for someone who is only going to visit once a year. If you are someone who visits a number of days a year, such as I do, the AP is certainly a smart move for admission alone. I am in a WDW park at least 25 days a year so an AP totally makes sense for me. Typically in the number of years that I have been following this, AP room discounts come out MUCH closer to the trip dates that you are looking at than almost any other discount offer. Sorry!!! We are long distance...Chicago...AP holders, but it is still worth it for us because we make 4+ small trips a year. But I was just confused because it seemed to me that at least in recent memory, this was the first time a GP code was released before the AP code, so I am wondering about a trend. I realize I can always book with the GP code and then look for an AP code instead if it is released. As far as bounceback, we have been there for several of those, but I just can't get my act together to book while we are there to figure out when we might be there 9 months later!

Hi there Yankee, I understand your confusion, but also know that this is not strictly a room only offer, such as they have been in the past. This can be made into a package offer with the room discount built in to it, so it is definitely different than previous years. In the past, package offers were always offered first and as you said, GP room only offers were usually last, if at all. As this can be made into a package, perhaps this is why this was released so far out? That was my thought on it, but I hadnt confirmed that theory with anyone, so it certainly isnt the official word.
