Hi can anyone help! I am a UK resident wanting to buy and Annual Disney Pass! The USA website does not allow this and i have been told they only way is to call Disney and do it over the phone??! Alternatively we can buy it when we get there but dont really want the added hassle!

Many thanks

To tell you the truth, I don't think that there is really any "added hassle" of buying them on-property as opposed to buying them ahead of time.
For one, I don't believe that there is any price benefit of purchasing them in advance.
Secondly, no matter where or when you purchase them, you still need to go to the Guest Services window to exchange the exchange certificates for the passes, activate them, and give them (or confirm) your personal information.

Honestly, about the only thing extra you'd have to do by buying them on the spot would be the part where you give them a form of payment.

If you're like me, you just want to get them ahead of time to "be prepared" (I'm obsessive about preparing for WDW trips!), but in reality, you're worse off because that's just one more opportunity to forget the exchange cerificates at home (and that looks like it would be a long flight...or swim for you! LOL!)

Good luck and have FUN!

Yeah... there isn't much advantage to pre-purchasing the annual pass... about the only thing it gives you is access to the pass holder website beforehand.... there isn't much extra hassle... being from the UK I'm not sure if you have gotten a DLP annual pass before... that is a lot more involved... the WDW annual pass is really just a normal park ticket... they take all your information when you buy it... or you turn in the exchange certificate... so as wild01ride said they only "extra hassle" is giving them your money :P

I thought you had some exciting news about Annual passes or something...you should have posted this in the Trip Planning section.

Just keep that in mind for next time.

There's really no hassel with purchasing the APs onsite...I've always done it this way. If you did it by phone or over the internet you would be sent vouchers and have to redeem those at Guest Services anyway...

No savings on the initial buy either. However, if renewing in advance, there is a cost savings.

So I saw on a website that if you are staying at WDW for 8 days or more, you basically are better off getting an Annual Pass. We are heading down next week for our 10 day March Break trip. How much would it be for me to have my pass switched to an annual pass while down there and is it worth my while?

I agree with some of the above posts regarding the fact that buying AP's on-site is not a hassle at all. I have had AP's many times, and I only purchased them off-site once. The wait to purchase them at a park is minimal. I think that you are better off purchasing them when you arrive at WDW.

no extra cost to change your tickets over to an AP. As long as there are days left on your tickets that you'll be upgrading, the only extra cost you will have to pay is the difference in the cost between the AP and the tickets you bought.

Also, if you've already have used any days on your ticket and you're upgrading to an AP, your pass will be good for 365 days from when you used the FIRST day on the ticket...not from when you upgrade your ticket.

I always purchase them over the phone and renew over the phone before the price increase (which is usually the first of January). Have only had to wait a while when I pick them up at the Magic Kingdom - so now I turn in the vouchers at World Showcase entrance (International Gateway)...never a line.... The pass activates when you go through the trunstyle.....

One thing to remember when upgrading:
If you've purchased the Water Parks & More option and you've USED any of those options, they will only upgrade your ticket to a Premium Annual Pass. (If you've bought it and haven't used any options, you'll get credit for the price you paid, but can upgrade to either type of Annual Pass)

As for pre-purchasing the AP, the only additional "benefit" that hasn't already been mentioned is that you shield yourself from a possible price-increase that would happen between the time you buy the AP voucher and when you take your trip. And as the OP is from the UK, you'd also lock in the current exchange-rate, so if the Pound-to-Dollar rate becomes less favorable later on, you've already bought your Pass at the better rate.

APs usually break even at around 10-12 days

As stated, we have 10 day MYW park passes with the water parks and more option. So if I walked up to one of the entrances, I could just switch it over to an annual pass? How much extra would it cost me to switch it over to the Premium Annual Pass with the water park options then?
