Annual passes question

We are going to buy annual passes next month for the first time. I was just curious if there was a place out there to get the cheapest price. Whether it be AAA or some other internet site. Just looking to see if I can save a few bucks for some Disney merchandise at the parks. :)

Thanks

DVC members currently receive a discount on AP's, but only for immediate family members living at the same address. Otherwise, no discounts on AP's.

You will receive 10% off of merchandise at World of Disney, to address your comment about saving a few bucks on Disney merchandise.

Hey, I still have my AP on me from my trip last week.... I should go register it on the AP web site. ;)

Sorry, no discounts on Annual Passes. How many days do you plan on visiting the parks in the coming year with the pass?

We plan on going for 8 days in December, another 3-5 in May, and then another 8 days next Sept/Oct 2008. Usually, we only go on one 8-day trip a year, but this year is more, so the annual pass is more cost efficient. Also, we can get the dining discount plan (can't remember the name).

You can't buy them from an agent or so, and IMO there are no discounts on annual passes, unless you onw some DVC

Disney Dining Experience or DDE.

Enjoy!

So, is it better to buy them at one of the park gates or Disney Store or some other place? Just thinking about how long it will take to buy at the park, but I don't want to chance losing a voucher if I buy it before the trip.

Well even if you buy it online and get the voucher, you'll have to stand in line at the park to exchange it for the pass. I'm guessing it'd take just as long either way.
You could also get some decent discounts on your hotel room.

Regardless of where you get the you will still have to activate them at guest services. If you wish to spread the expense over a period of time you could pick them up one at a time over a period of weeks to months from the Disney store.

Yes, the AP would be your best bet. The dining plan is still available, but there are more restrictions now.

FL Resident APs seasonal APS have discounts via AAA.

Then you can take that to WDW and have it upgraded to a regular full FL-res AP, with disney eating the difference in price, and only charging you the bump from Seasonal to full AP.

I do that pretty much every year.

Fastest way to get activated is usually the Guest Services Kiosk at Downtown Disney... its close to the water near the Planet Hollywood area.... otherwise the park spots can present somewhat longer lines.

If you have a military ID card you can get an AP cheaper. Go to the ticket center at Shades of Green for a voucher and then redeem it at the park. That is what we did!!

Incorrect. There IS a discount through AAA. It's not much, but it does help when you are purchasing more than 1 pass. I highly recommend becoming an AAA member simply for the Disney discounts (though there are plenty of other incentives for the very reasonable annual membership price tag).

Not all AAA offices offer this discount.
