Annual passes and magic bands

No I understood what you meant too sorry I wasn't clear, and probably shouldn't of replied to you directly. lol I was just clarifying for others in case I had not been clear on mine as I tend to do sometimes I start rambling. Working and posting don't mix sometimes. Haha!

I've been an AP for years. No, new APs cannot get an MB band until their pass is activated at GS. But any previous MB will work just fine. The only thing extra in the box with an AP Band? The slider. Which you can ask for at GS when you activate your pass. I used to customize my AP band every year just to get a slider with the current year on it. The new sliders have no year. If the sliders don't change from what they are now, I probably won't customize the next time I renew - don't need another MB in my MDE I have to deactivate.....

I purchased an AP in early December and booked two trips for June & November. On Monday I decided to book a last minute trip leaving February 13th. I keep hearing the term "exchange certificate" & that it is something you should receive in the mail. I have not received anything by mail at all. I have a confirmation email that has a bar code on it & says to "show bar code at ticket window". Am I correct in assuming that that email is my exchange certificate?

Quick question: We are going for a long weekend in September and I wan to buy an annual pass that I will activate then. Can I purchase one of the "special" bands that are sold online from Disney and take it with me when I activate and use it same day?

Yes and you don’t even have to wait to add it to MDE. You can add it at any time even if you don’t have your AP’s yet in your account. Any magic bands in your account all work with any tickets and anyhing you can use a magic band for. They aren’t tied specifically to a certain ticket etc just tied to you and anything in your account.
