Annual Pass

Sorry if this has been gone over before. I am getting close to booking our trip for this fall. Going through our options and found that I could take a late fall trip this year and an early fall trip next year I could buy an annual pass (figuring 6-7 day trips) and save money. Am I figuring this right?

This is what we're doing. When you factor in the cost of park hoppers, and photopass, we'll be saving about $600 in ticket costs by going the AP route. Then on top of that, we'll be getting merchandise and food discounts, which I'm sure will add up as well. Not to much, but every little bit of savings counts, right? Save ten dollars on CRT? That's two "free" dole whips.

I just got my AP :) It made sense for us as we have 2 trips planned this year and at least one next year. The hotel discounts were decent for AKL in May for me.

I still haven't had Dole Whip - That is my first snack to be had at MK next time!

I don't get the hype. We tried it and it's... okay. I love pineapples, too. I really wanted to try the pineapple upside down cake dole whip though so I'm hoping that will still be available on my next trip.

Run the numbers because in my calculations, it took 3 trips for us to break even. Also like Disney's other incentives, the AP room discounts disappear very quickly, so you need to keep that in mind
@Master Yoda has more info and can provide more details.

We've been buying the annual pass for years for that very reason. We use it two weeks in Oct every year, and then the next year we just go two weeks sooner then the date it expires. We've even managed to get in a trip in the spring some years. They used to say once you have used it more than 8 days, its paid for itself. Of course that was when it was cheaper. But now you also get along with free parking, 20% off merchandise, and 20% off in some restaurants. We own timeshare outside the park so thats why parking is a big savings for us.

Yes, it will save you a lot. Unless you're like me.

The first time I bought APs with a view to saving by doing my two once-a-year trips within the year of the APs, I had this AP burning a hole in my wallet... and I did three solo trips in between. :hilarious:

So much for "savings"!
