Annual Pass Question

I know prices for tickets, including annual passes, will most likely go up in the next month. My question is how far in advance can I buy an annual pass before I use it? I am going to WDW in October and again in January. Can I buy the passes now at the current rate to save the money and then not have them start till the day I first enter the park in October, and then not expire till October 2014?

Thank in advance for the help!

Yes, when you buy them online, you get a voucher to redeem at the gate and get your actual AP. The date for your AP starts when you redeem the voucher.

Thank you.

One follow up question. If I don't end up going in October can I still use the voucher bought in 2013 for my January trip? If so, will it then last till Jan 2015?
Santa brought our APs in 2011. We bought them in November of that year and did not use them until July 2012. The only pass that is activated the day you purchase it is the AP that allows you into WDW and DL.

To clarify...

If you purchase on-line or over the phone, they send you a voucher. If you purchase at the parks you get a valid ticket [the Premier Passport can only be purchased in person, not on-line or by phone].

Thanks. Unfortunately, I will not be purchasing a premier any time soon. I do hope to get to Disneyland eventually, but the pull of Disney World is just to much! (plus the fact that I live on the east coast)

I was just putting the info out there in case anyone needed it.

I have my first and probably only Premier Passport right now. Bought because I'm going to DL for the D23 Expo in August. My son currently has a DL Deluxe AP so he can join me on that trip [decided to do a "quicky" trip in April, decided it was better to go to DL and got his early, rather than going to WDW and paying for a Premier for him too]. So any spur of the moment trips in the near future have to be to DL if he's going with me. If I go solo, I can choose which coast... Free dining in September IS tempting...

Just wanted to add that we've done this the last couple of years to beat price increases. We bought vouchers for our current APs sometime over the summer at the Disney Store in our area and activated them in January of this year (I went to DtD and my husband got his at the entrance to DHS). I think you have to activate them at one of the parks or in DtD...not sure that the hotels can do it anymore.

Sounds great. I'm sure our curiosity will get the better of us eventually and we will visit DL. As far as the new discounts... I am really hoping them extend them in to October as they have in the past. Fingers crossed!!

Thanks for responding. Did you happen to get an AP hotel discount? I am not planning to do this for my October trip, as we are staying at the Swan, but if a great discount comes out I may switch. How would that work? Would I have to go to a park/DTD first, then check in?

I did get an AP discount in January, yes. And I did go to Downtown Disney to get my AP before checking in. I don't remember whether they actually checked it or not...someone else may be able to clarify. :)

Has anyone bought an AP through AAA? I am a FL resident and am interested in buying it through them to get the Diamind Parking Pass. We are going in December. If I buy them now thru AAA, will I get said voucher? Or will it be a ticket? I'm wondering if I should buy now or wait till Dec. thanks!

No, you can check in with your voucher. They may ask you to bring your AP to the desk when you get it, but I doubt it.

In all of my many, many AP trips I was never once asked to produce it. Ever. Not once.

I know that in NY you can not buy AP's from AAA, this may be different in FLA. To get around this in the past I have bought a regular ticket from AAA (to get the diamond parking pass) and then upgraded my ticket to annual pass on arrival.
