Hi everyone!! I'm new to this board and am planning a trip in August (4th trip to WDW). I was wondering if anyone could tell me the benefits of being an annual passholder. I have heard about free parking and shopping discounts. Are there any other benefits? Do you get free parking at all parks?

:) Thanks!!!!:)

Welcome to the Boards for starters. Always good to have an addition to the family.

I would tell you that you get free parking at the parks, as well as food/mercandise discounts, as well as discounts on recreation, (i.e. horseback riding, swimming with the dolphins, golf, etc. etc.).

If you go to Disneys' website, you'll find all the information regarding the benefits of an annual pass, if you lok under tickets/reservations.

Again, welcome!!!!!

Biggest discount that you receive is the discount on lodging. Mousesavers.com does a good job of detailing what you get with an AP. If you are going to spend a total of 7 days within a year time span, AP is the way to go.

And don't forget the psychological benefits -- I just got my AP voucher from the Disney Store last week, and the GLEE I feel just knowing I can go to Disney whenever I want has kept me on a high all week.

When booking a resort with AP discount, can you just say you are booking for the Annual Pass discount, or do you have to have a discount code as well?

If you only plan to go once a year, make your second trip Eleven months and a couple of weeks after the first and your Annual Pass will still get you in :D

Hmmm.....I checked the WDW website and all it says (in addition to the obvious park admissions) is "A wide array of passholder benefits". I was mainly curious to know how much it would help with meals and shopping. We like to eat at places like Columbia Harbour House, O'Hana's, Crystal Palace, Cantina in Mexico, and was wondering if it would be discounted at all. Is merchandise at DD discounted? I think I might just get one AP for me and use it for discounts for my family in the future. Just a friend and I are going for 10 days in August.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Hello and welcome Nadie! The main benefit to having an AP is the parking and admissions. Make sure you read the other discounts section carefully. As I'm looking at my AP folder, the discounts for dining range from 10-20% at selected restaurants at DD. The discounts for the resort dining are for lunch only. There are too many if and or buts to list here but the MAIN reason for an AP is the park admissions and free parking at the parks.

I can tell you that since I live about 30 mins from the World, I've used the AP a lot and that's before any family or friends have come down.

Enjoy!

I would think it would be beneficial to you when you call for reservs. to let the cm know that you are an annual passholder, so that your discount can be applied at that time. Especially if you are reserving a room only discount.

Having an AP has saved us about $800 on two visits this past year, on lodging. It has allowed us to stay @ DAKL Savannah view($200 per night), which we would not have done without discounted room. We saved $90 per night at the FW Cabins. The discounts will save you money, or allow you to stay in a resort that is a step up from what you would normally stay in. If you can resist the impulses, do ALL of your shopping in World of Disney downtown and save 10%. You save on car rental, dining, tours, etc. Check out the link that DisneyWorld30th provided and it will explain everything. When reserving a room, it helps to actually have the code that you are trying to use, not just say "passholder discount, please".
