Anne Hathaway Joins the Cast of Les Misérables

Anne Hathaway (upcoming The Dark Knight Rises) is joining Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman in director Tom Hooper's Les Misérables at Universal Pictures and Working Title Films.
In the film, based on the classic novel and stage play, Hathaway will play the role of Fantine opposite Crowe's Inspector Javert and Jackman's Jean Valjean.
William Nicholson (Gladiator) has written the screenplay. Sir Cameron Mackintosh will produce alongside Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Debra Hayward for Working Title. Vice President of Production Erik Baiers is overseeing for Universal with Director of Development Maradith Frenkel.
The music is by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.
Les Misérables is scheduled to hit theaters on December 7, 2012.
