Animation Inn Greenlighted?

Seriously with all these DVC places opening and that resort next to Port Orleans Riverside underway, do they really need to worry about how their resort looks? How about getting some new E-Ticket attractions opened? AI just isn’t cutting it in my books.

I think that you are getting this backwards. The resorts and the DVC properties are what are going to drive the hopes for any new E-ticket attractions. Unless there is an increase in the numbers visiting the parks and staying in the resorts, money will not be there to build new e-ticket rides. The DVC properties are paid for by the "owners" and increases the number of people visiting the parks (and buying tickets, food, etc.). More Resorts and DVC = more rides and maybe someday a 5th gate.

I think yu've got it a little backwards. DVC can only cater to a percentage of Disney visitors. Not everyone is going to want to be attached to a DVC (like myself). It doesn't matter what visitor comes in the gates (DVC or otherwise), they're all going to buy tickets, food, etc. Moreso for those of us that stay off property, as were not getting the "perks" of free dining etc.

No I'm not saying that there are too many DVC resorts what I'm trying to say is since they have all these places opening up, do they really need to focus on the legendary years not being "family friendly" enough? They can still make DVC buildings out of the other half but I think they can leave the original Pop Century alone and maybe take the money they would spend on that and build a new attraction.

Well, wouldn't that render All Star Movies kind of pointless???

At the least, it will make one of the redundant.

I don't get this at all. Why? Why must they have another resort that's animation themed? Actually, I know why. It's because kids love Disney's animated movies, and it will sell well. But, it just seems like a sell out (if true).

Dwayne the Rock Johnson will be in the movie 20 000 leagues so I don't see 3 Rock/Disney pictures coming out and the animation inn should be a POP if I remember an old thead on here....don't really believe either will happen anytime soon.

BTW::wave:

He isn't going to be in the movie. Read the link I posted.

Are you sure this hotel is destined for FL?

There was a story on two local news stations this morning that Disney purchased land at the National Harbor in Washington D.C. to build a "themed Disney style" resort. . .

Could this be an entirely separate project never mentioned on these boards, or is this rumor close, just not in the right state..:)

National Harbor Sells Land to Disney
Site Being Considered for New Resort Hotel

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD (May 19, 2009) - The Peterson Companies announced today the sale of land at its National Harbor development near Washington, DC to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Disney is considering using the 15-acre site overlooking the Potomac River in National Harbor, MD as the location for a resort hotel for families and others visiting the National Capital Region.

“We’re thrilled Disney has decided to invest in National Harbor,” said Milton V. Peterson, chairman of the Peterson Companies. “Disney is the top family entertainment company in the world, and its purchase is a great vote of confidence in the future of National Harbor and the Washington area as a top family tourism destination.”

The new resort hotel would be one of Disney’s stand-alone resort hotels separate from the Disney theme parks. This new resort hotel, like the project under construction in Hawaii, will be in a prime geographic location and will provide guests with the same comfort, fun and amenities for which Disney is famous.

“As we began identifying possible locations to grow our business, the Washington, DC area immediately jumped to the top of the list,” said Jay Rasulo, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “National Harbor offers an array of entertaining activities for regional visitors, but it is also a family-friendly base camp, from which visitors from around the world can explore the stirring sights and inspirational stories of our nation’s capital. We believe National Harbor has the unique opportunity to offer a new level of family-friendly hospitality.”

Disney purchased the Maryland property from the Peterson Companies for $11 million.

Interesting.

I would assume this could be another DVC resort, which would be good for WDW.

The more WDW has to fight for their DVC visitors the more, I feel, the quality will go up.

Weren't their rumors of a NYC DVC?

I'm not a big fan of building more DVC in Orlando, but the idea of DVC all over the country that DVC members could visit is certainly an interesting idea which could be paired with their Adventures by Disney offerings. It could certainly attract more DVC business and boost company revenue through bookings and tours being booked.

I haven't heard of the NYC DVC rumor, but now I'll keep an ear out. It would be ENORMOUSLY expensive with the land values here in the city, but if any company has the cash...
