Is she the female character with the awesome costume that walks on stilts and looks like she is part of the shrubbery until she moves? She doesn't speak, but can be found greeting guests usually on the bridge from Africa to Asia.

At roughly five times the size of the Magic Kingdom, DAK is about 500 acres in size (the Kilimanjaro Safari is about 100 acres alone!)

Thanks! :lookaroun

How many attractions were there when Disney's Animal Kingdom first opened?

Bonus: Name them!

The Boneyard
Countdown to Extinction (now Dinosaur)
Cretaceous trail
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Pangani Forest Exploration trail
Wildlife Express
Rafiki's Planet Watch
"It's Tough to be a Bug"

Well, this one is a little confusing.... :brick: (I wanted to be sure to confirm the answers, so I did a little extra research)...

According to info from Disney, as well as my "Sneak Preview" map from April 16, 1998, there were 5 attractions, 9 exhibits, 12 live entertainment shows, 8 food locations and 11 merchandise locations. They included:

The Tree of Life
Discovery River Boats
Festival of the Lion King
-Countdown to Extinction
-The Boneyard
-Cretaceous Trail
Journey Into the Jungle Book
-Kilimanjaro Safaris
-Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail
-Wildlife Express to Conservation Station
March of the Animals
(It's Tough to be a Bug is listed as "Coming Soon")
1998 Dinosaur Jubilee (also listed as "Coming Soon")

So, I interpret that to mean the 5 "attractions" were:
1. Discovery River Boats
2. Kilimanjaro Safaris
3. Countdown to Extinction
4. Wildlife Express
5. Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail

while the others are either shows or "exhibits" (I think that because there really wasn't much to see at the time, that things that normally wouldn't be considered attractions were listed as such to make it seem like there was more to do).

OK... I babbled on WAY too much there :p , and I guess because my explanation was so long, I'll just throw this question out, slap myself on the wrist, and let someone else (MB or DisneyDoll, feel free!), throw one out there that's a little less... umm... confusing.

Sorry 'bout that!! (me and my "easy" questions, huh?) :hammer:
