So we are leaving for Disney this Sataurday! I'm so excited! I noticed that Animal Kingdom is open until 8pm pretty much every day we are there. That seems a lot later than it was open last time I was there, which was in 2010. I'm excited about it because I love Animal Kingdom, but my question is, are there rides or shows that close early? I'm assuming the safari does and some of the other animal exhibits. But do the shows play through closing (like lion king and finding Nemo)? The way our schedule is right now we have one full day at Animal Kingdom, with a break for lunch at our hotel so I want to get the most out of the day as possible.

Because it does not get dark until late, the last safari will depart around 7:30pm. The trails will be open to around 7:30pm. Planet Watch will close around 6pm. The last Festival of the Lion King will be around 6:30pm, and the last Nemo will be around 6pm.

Have a great trip!

Awesome! That helps a lot. Thanks. :) It's a big family trip so we need to have a little bit of organization before we go!

The safaris and animal trails will close a little early, but thanks to later sunsets, not much earlier. All other rides will be open until the park closes. Usually with later hours, the shows will add an extra show time or two, but best to pick up a times guide in the park. If you have an Android or iOS device, I highly recommend you download My Disney Experience, the mobile app. It's kept up to date with all of the show times and ride hours. Have a great trip!!

That's a good idea using the Disney App. It's always harder planning shows with a bigger group so that would make it easier.

I highly recommend waiting to go to DAK until 4 PM if it's open until 8. All rides are usually a walk-on or have very short wait times for the last two hours of operation. It also isn't sweltering hot.

If you get the opportunity to stick around while it gets dark, just walk around Asia. Oh. My. God. The lights are beautiful and Everest is lit!! Definitely worth it if you can do it. :)

The AK is wonderful at night. It's rare that is open late enough to be there when it is dark, but I love it at night. :)
