Thanks everyone. I am getting so excited we were able to switch! Although, I am feeling a little guilty we are leaving the kids home for this one. Maybe if the transportation is not to bad we can take them another time.
The first time I was in Orlando was for business. Oh, did I miss my son. All the time. I kept thinking how much he'd enjoy X or Y. Even on IASW, one of the dolls reminded me of him and I nearly cried, feeling so badly that he was missing out.

It was all a waste! Me feeling badly didn't put him in Orlando. He got to go another time.

I'd have been much happier if I'd resolved ahead of time to take him later and just totally enjoyed the time I had!

I tell you this in the hopes that you'll be able to shelve the guilt and have a better trip. :)

Thank you. I know you are right. We didn't feel as bad staying at the Swan, but once we switched to AKL the guilt started to hit. Our kids LOVE animals!

We are taking the twins in Jan/Feb so we don't feel too bad. This will be a short trip, and it was too hot when we took them last October. OK, now I feel better... :)

If money isn't too tight, consider Wanyama Safari and Dinner. Sanna is a must and isn't that expensive for a Disney meal.

Buses are not bad. It is the best of the worst. At least AKL now has transportation between the two resorts without having to get on a park bus.

Boma is worth every penny in my opinion. I would pick that over Whispering Canyon and I really like that too. If you are on the DDP it is a really good deal.
Ok, just wondered. I am normally not a buffet person that is why I was wondering. I was not comparing food quality but buffet vs. a la carte menu.

I understand, yes usually buffets can can subpar and sometimes cold, undercooked food but I didn't think that was the case at Boma.

Definitely try out Boma! It's pretty great! I haven't had Sanaa yet but I heard it's a really great place for dinner, so definitely try that one too.

I think if you aren't DVC you'd be in Jambo House since I think Kidani is only for DVC. I'm not entirely sure on that though..

With bus service, it's not that bad but there probably will be some slow points getting back to the resort. I know at MK one night I waited 20 minutes for a bus. It was miserable and there was a huge line behind me so I imagine some people waited close to 45 minutes if they got stuck at the end of the line. Buses coming to the resort weren't a problem though.

I only stayed there for one night so I'm not the most reliable assessment with transportation.

Enjoy the resort though! It's a really nice one! Definitely take the time to watch the animals graze in the savanna they have set up.

And that is why I generally hit TS over buffets. But I really love Boma breakfasts.

We stayed for a weekend in a pool view room and my friend was down the hall in a standard room. I noticed she had a dresser in her room and I did not, which was a total inconvenience considering we were 4 people with lots of baggage....I would definitely request a room with a dresser as far as room tips go. I have to say the people who work at this resort are the most customer oriented ones I have found on disney property save for maybe BWI. The food at BOMA and Saana is fantastic. ENJOY!

Thanks for your post. I have been to Sanna before, so we are definitely planning on eating at Boma this trip. Can't wait to try the famed Zebra Dome! :hungry:

Glad to hear the busses going to the parks aren't so bad. At the end of a long day we will some times take a cab to avoid the long lines, hey it is vacation!

We are so looking forward to watching the animals. We will only be there for 4 nights, but we plan to spend at least one relaxing walking around the Savannas.

Thanks for posting. Glad to hear the CM's are so great at AKL and BWI. (We are staying for a week at BWV in Feb. First time there too.) I worked in the service industry for years, so I think it bugs me more than most when Disney doesn't live up to it's reputation.
