Animal Kingdom Lodge

Has anyone stayed at the new Animal Kingdom Lodge? We are scheduled to stay there beginning 3/13 for 3 days.

I've visited there on my last visit, and just had a friend return from a 3 day stay there. The resort is beautiful and unique. It is sorta far away from everything though. Some of the rooms have a view of off-Disney property. The breakfast at Boma is delicious!! I'm interested to hear your comments when you return!

I've stayed twice...last June and last month. If you can, I would suggest asking for a third floor room (savanah view). The lobby is on the 3rd floor, BTW. Last trip, we were on the second (one level down from the lobby) floor, and our view wasn't as nice as on the previous trip. Not that it was bad, just not as nice. I also found the lower level room to be a little darker.

Ask for a savana or pool view, they might just upgrade you because of the recent drop in attendence. It is great and if they didn't have rides and parks outside, I'd never would have left (I cried on the way out...)

I loved it, it was sooo beautiful. The only drawback was that it took a long time to walk to the room, and you got lost easily at first.

I dont know what its like but if you get the New Birnbaums 2002 Official WDW guide...it has lot of information about AKL

Definalty go to Boma, but I liked breakfast ten times better. The Maya is also good. We ate there every day for breakfast on our way to the parks, quick good and easy.

Stayed there last October for a week. What a wonderful resort. Highly recommended, and I've stayed at the Contemp. and Poly before as well.

Deff. get a savannah room. I'd like to know what the suites cost tho, cos' they look to have views over multiple savannahs.

Boma is great, best breakfast I've had in years.

Maya is ok for a quick snack. And Jiko is a fine resturant as well, but a bit pricey, but very good food and service.

We plan on doing AKL from now on unless they open another resort with this much "theaming" behind it. It would be a hard thing to do cos' AKL is about as good as it gets for a magical experiance.

We found ourselves spending more time enjoying the resort than the parks this time out than we usually do.

Everyone should enjoy this place once!
