You're very lucky that you got five nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is my absolute favorite resort that I've stayed at.
For your meals, make sure you go to Boma and Jiko. The food is amazing, especially at Jiko, and is totally worth the money. The Mara is the cafeteria type, but the food is still very good. It's great for if you're in a rush, and you need to hurry up and eat. Also, make sure that you get the refillable Mugs there, I still have mine. They come in great handy.
The pool area is very nice. I prefer the pool at night. There's a bar next to the pool, and there's a hot tub behind the pool.
When you get to the resort, ask someone working there for a sheet on the Hidden Mickeys. When the resort was made, they added a lot of Hidden Mickeys inside of it. When I went my first time, I was given a sheet of clues where all the Hidden Mickeys in the resort are. It was a fun activity to do when we were taking a break from the parks.
Make sure that you check out the lobby, and that you roam the halls of every floor, because there is beautiful african artwork everywhere. Every floor has its fair share of african pieces and statues, located everywhere. Just don't get lost, like I did. The lobby is so beautiful as well.
You must do the nighttime animal viewing. It's so great. And even if you don't do it at night, at least go through the back of the lobby to outside, where you can get closer to the animals grazing the savanna. It's really beautiful. I'm not sure where your rooms are, but if you have a savanna room, like we did, you can just look out your window and see the animals in the savanna. It's really a great experience.
And just make sure that you take a big tour of the whole resort. It's really big, and there are so many things to do. Those are the only things I could think of off the top of my head, though. I'm sure someone working there can tell you what else there is to do.
I hope I helped you a little bit.
