Hi board members,

Me and my brother leave Australia for Disneyworld next Saturday. I just have a couple of questions.

We are spending our first day in Animal Kingdom so I am wondering two things.

1) Where do you go to get your photopass plus cards activated in Animal Kingdom?

2) Is there anywhere that sells the autograph books in Animal Kingdom and if not where can you go to purchase one?

Thanks for the help in advance

Autograph books are for sale just about everywhere that you can buy stuff. You won't have a problem finding one in any hotel or park.

I don't know about how photo pass works. I do know there is always a photographer on the bridge. You go through the turnstiles, through the oasis and then you hit the bridge.

Have a great trip with lots of fun!!

Get the autograph book at your hotel if possible! It will save you time in the park! Bring a few pens or sharpie markers with you for autographs the characters don't have their own! Never done photopass+ Good luck and have a magical trip!

With Photopass Plus, you'll just need to go to the Animal Kingdom Photopass location. It will be right near the entrance gates to AK. Not sure of its' exact location, but I'm thinking it will be on your right as you enter AK. Just ask any Cast Member as you enter, and they will be able to point you in the right direction. Our friends used Photopass Plus on their trip last week and loved it - good call on that.

I thought you could get your photo pass activated right after you enter the park they have photographers there to take your pics in front of the tree of life. You can purchase autograph books at the gift shop at the Animal Kingdom resort or right inside the Animal Kingdom park. Have fun!

I haven't used Photopass Plus yet, but a couple of (perhaps) useful tips from all the times I've done Photopass.

1. Take a photo of the back of your Photopass card so you have a copy of the 16 digit code. If you lose the card, and don't have this code, your photos can't be found.

2. If you forget your card at the hotel, in the car, etc., you can get another and then link all cards together online or at a Photopass kiosk. We often have a few cards at all times, and when we split into groups of 2 or 3 for a few hours from our larger group, we still can get Photopass photos.

Enjoy!

While the autograph books are at lots of locations, you should really get one of the 'big' pens also. The characters cannot easily manage signing autographs with our personal ballpoints, so your personal extra pens would only work for actual size characters, ie. the princesses, Alice, Mary Poppins, etc.

Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Cap'n Hook, etc. all need the large pens.

We Have done photo pass plus, it was great. We were staying at the poly so we were able to activate it at the photo section of the gift shop. Depending on your resort you may be able to do that, if not you can do it in each park, I think.

This is true for 'regular' photopass. The cream/ blue colored cards that every Photopass photographer has in their pocket of their vest. But Photopass Plus is something different. It must be relatively new? - I learned about it on these boards in the last few months. Photopass Plus is a red colored card. Currently it is given out on a lanyard that you can wear around your neck. It costs around $150 if you pre order before your trip, but you MUST allow at least 2 weeks for it to arrive in the mail. It includes not only regular park photopass pictures, but also on ride pictures (think Space Mountain, RRC, etc.) and some meal photos (Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, etc.) instead of having to buy those separately.

In this case, it sounds like the OP won't have time to preorder the Photopass Plus, so she'll need to go to any Photopass location at any of the 4 parks to purchase her red Photopass Plus lanyard for $200. :)

While it is true that she could get a 'regular' photopass card from any photopass photographer and then purchase her Photopass Plus card later in the day and have them transfer the photos from one card to the other, it sounded like the OP wanted to go ahead and take care of this first thing for her trip. I can't blame her - as others on this board have said, that red card turns into some really magical moments. When we arrived on Tuesday to join our friends who arrived on Friday, they told us over and over how wonderful the red Photopass Plus card had been. In their words, "Great call. Worth every penny." They had lots of magical moments with characters that they attributed to the red card - including Buzz Lightyear pushing aside the usual stamp signature and calling for an actual Sharpie to sign his name on their photo mat for their trip. Pretty exciting! I'm planning to pre order one for my extended family's trip in September!
