Terrific news! Congratulations Animal Kingdom! So this would be the first successful birth of a baby elephant conceived naturally and the third total for AK, right? Pretty impressive for an Elephant breeding program that is only 5 or so years old.

Hot Stuff From Pittsburgh

Jackson is getting a new home in a couple years. The Pittsburgh Zoo just acquired over 700 acres in the Laurel Mountains for a breeding reserve for elephants and a number of other endangered African species. White Rhino and Grevy Zebra are being considered.

By the way, Jackson is the only breeding African Elephant bull in the country.
