Do you think Animal Kingdom should have more attractions related to aquatic life? I would love to see them add an outdoor theater similar to Sea Worlds with dolphins, seals, even killer or blue whales. It seems Animal Kingdoms focus is primarily on land animals, and there are a lot of diverse sea animals they could feature.<O:p</O:p

Would be a nice addition. I'd rather see Beastly Kingdom built before aquatic animal attractions. But who knows. Maybe the'll build a whole land dedicated to aquatic and polar animals. Anything is possible.

I voted no. I think that Epcot covers the aquatic exhibits well. A whole "sea" land at AK would get the critics screaming that Disney was copying SeaWorld. I too think the Beastly Kingdom area would be a much better place for them to start.

However, I would love to see a version of TDS built as a 5th gate somewhere down the line... Which would of course be copying Disney, which we all know WDW likes to do.

They already have the Living Seas for sea life. I think it is a given that if you are into sea life and marine mammals you go to Sea World. Any attempt to add some sea life exhibits to AK will fall short of what Sea World has to offer.

I would rather see the Beastly Kingdom as well.

I would like to see Disney build a stadium for a dolphin show.

A dolphin show would be really cool, but I can't think of a place in the AK where the show would fit in with the theming. Perhaps Camp Minnie Mickey??

It would probably better suited for the Living Seas

Theme

I dont think this kind of exhibit would fit into AK very well, from my understanding AK is about preserving wildlife in their natural habitat, and the adventure of the wild. A stadium where animals perform would not fit into this theme. I could be wrong, but i think it would be out of place.

I would love to see an Atlantis area in the park, with the Little Mermaid childrens are from Disneysea in Tokyo (this area is beautifully themed and indoors so a nice break from the heat, plus alot nicer than Dinorama), maybe bring 20'000 leagues from Tokyo Disneyseas over, and a nice Log-flume coaster. They could have some aquariums around the indoor sections to add to the Under the sea theme. A nice table service restaurant coz we all know they need one in AK.

But i would also like to see them add the talked about path from Rafiki's to Asia, there was talk about a restaurant and shops along this new path.

Good point, but doesn't Flight of Wonder perform?

I'm torn about a sit down restaurant. At one time, I would have totally agreed. But since the Counter Service Dining Plan, I have come to enjoy the counter service.

However I'm not totally against a sit down restaurant where you view wild life. Not sure about an aquarium since Living Seas has that. Althought I'm not a big fan of the Corel Reef Restaurant

I haven't heard this one before but I think it would be great. It could be modeled after the waterfront area at Sea World. More places to duck inside and cool off at AK would definately be a good thing.

I would like to see a better path system. It seems you have to walk quite a bit in that park. The traffic flows has people that are coming and going running into each other.

I'm not saying a complete redesign, but improvements that reduce the back tracking. The new path by EE helps.

I think Disney would love to pull people away from Sea World.

I am sure that is very true, but can't see them spending the money to offer an experience similar to Sea World. Also, Sea World has been around for a while and no attempt has been made whatsoever to steal vacationers away from Sea World. I don't count The Living Seas a competition either.

Living Seas is no competition at this point. My point was, If there becomes "value added" to have sea attractions, Disney would build it. Disney wants to keep people on their property. Wasn't that the reasons for MGM and AK?

I know they definately want to keep people on property, but I can't see them building a park similar to Sea World or even dedicating part of the AK for sea life. Sea World, while a theme park, is not known for their rides. I think Disney has a genuine interest in preventing people from visiting Universal but not necessarily Sea World. My guess is more people who vacation at Disney go to Universal in the same trip then Sea World. The focus on new WDW attractions has been E Ticket thrill rides, trying to bring in thrill seekers to WDW. Thrills and effects are something Universal prides itself in, and something that is really not the focal point of Sea World.

I think the very nature of the care and conditions sea life demand make it too costly to add to the AK. In fact, like others have stated, I believe they are already fairly represented in an already huge undertaking in EPCOT's Living Seas.
The key argument here is that AK is growing, but we all still crave more. The park just doesn't feel fully fleshed out like the others.

That's a good viewpoint. I don't think dedicating a part of AK would be competition for Sea World. A park similar to Tokyo Seas would be the only way to compete.

It seems as if Disney is more concerned with Universal then Sea World. I know I would love to see Sea World again, but would not pick it over another Disney day. Now if Disney didn't have the thrill rides, I might end up at Universal. So for me your theory sounds valid.

Just give me a dolphin show in the Living Seas or AK and I will never consider Sea World.

But work on the AK path.

Ak

HI ALL,

My family and I will be arriving at WDW on Feb 26th, and will be staying at AKL......this trip was my Christmas gift to my family, and the reason that I picked AK was that I spent 3 weeks in South Africa last fall, and it was just spectacular!!!

I did a lot of research before choosing AKL.....and they are right on the money in representing the flavor of Africa....couldn't take all to Africa so I think that this will be the next best thing....with the bonus of Mickey!!!!

Regards BABA MICKEY

I think it the nature of people to want more.

However before EE, I could spend from opening to close at AK. A few times on the Safari, Tarzan, FOLK, Bugs Life, Lunch at Flame Tree, Flight of Wonder, the Tigers and other wild life.

However I never spend time at the Conversation Station.
