Andy's Room

I am not sure what to make of this. A permit was filed the other day for "Andy's Room" in Tomorrowland for "mechanical" work which normally means HVAC. I initially didn't think much of this, assuming it was in reference to the store at the end of the Buzz Lightyear ride, but when other sites started to run with it, I decided to look into it further.

Here is the location from the permit. Other sites have mistakenly said this is the old Tomorrowland arcade, but it it's clearly part of Buzz...

Looking at the layout of the ride this area is actually part of the ride, and not the gift shop. The permit expires at the end of October so it's not likely it's anything major, but I thought I would put it out there anyway.

My only question @danlb_2000 is whether or not it is referred to "Andy's Room" on previous permits/blueprints/etc? It could also be a reference to try and throw off people who look at permits, etc.

My gut instinct is that this means absolutely nothing whatsoever and is indeed minor HVAC like you suggest.

I'm also highly amused by the people and sites who are unable to get perfectly factual information from a public record.

I've never seen that term used before on a permit. I checked a couple other Buzz related permits and they all designate the entire building, I haven't seen one that marks off this specific space.

Does anyone know if there was something called "Andy's Room" there a long time ago? The Laugh Floor section in some permits is still labeled "Timekeeper", so old names tend to stick around.

Isn't it closing for a month-long refurbishment at the start of 2016? Maybe something major-ish is happening and it will be referred to as Andy's Room going forward…? Just spitballing right now.

Silly thought but wasn't If you had Wings / Dream Flight , etc. in the Buzz building previously? Was there an Andes scene at all? If so, could it have just been renamed? I'm sure this is a looney off the wall thought and I don't really remember the older rides but for some reason that came to mind.

Could it be referring to a scene from Buzz? I don't seem to recall any scenes from the ride that resemble Andy's room but perhaps it's just how a certain part of the ride is referenced.

I tought of this, but no there is nothing that looks like Andy's room in the ride. The section referenced in the permit is towards the end of the ride where the tunnel is with the projections.

Yes it is....

That's actually not the craziest thing.

If you look at the other two Buzz permits filed in 2015, both of them simply refer to the area as "Buzz Lightyear." Granted, they are permits for the entire ride and not just the half-section that this permit is, but it's still weird to change around the naming like that.

Interesting that the NoC has a survey that refers to a specific portion of a building, and not even the complete area for one whole ride.

Was that building ever added on to the original building, or did Dreamflight/IYHW always consume that entire area?

Regardless, it's a Mechanical permit, so it's nothing to get excited over. It's HVAC work, piping work, or temperature control work. Probably replacing an air handler, or other HVAC components, overnight.

HVAC = High Velocity Actuator Crystals?? New unmounted blasters confirmed?!?

Ok time for me to take a break from the internet for a bit...

I do seem to recall that the building was added onto...the rectangular area south of the main Southern Tomorrowland Building was an addition to accommodate IYHW/IYCF/Dreamflight.

paging @marni1971 for confirmation.

From Wiki.(yeah I know):
The south show building received an expansion in 1972, which would house If You Had Wings. The south building would be further expanded in 1973, opening the Plaza Pavilion, which was an open air restaurant, and would serve of a convenient way of getting from Main Street to Tomorrowland quickly.

I'm sure this isn't it but just a random thought, could this be something to do with the peoplemover? Something to do with the scene that overlooks Buzz?? Like I said I doubt it but, thought it could be a long shot.

I am not sure if it is related, but that is the section that the people mover goes through.

Like I said I doubt it's that. Plus unless there is planned maintenance for the TTA I would doubt it's this. Like is said it was just a random thought.
