On a related note, a friend of mine caused that result on a horse once. He's a vet student and this farmer brought in a sick horse. He had some kind of gas problem, so they stuck a "hose", if you will, in it's belly so that the gas could come out. During the course of the "forced farting", my buddy wondered what would happen if he brought a flame close to the leak.

"Sorry, sir, but your horse didn't make it."
"Well, can I take it home, then?"
"Uh... No."
