An Ode to the Magic Cookie Bar.

I just made a different verison of the magic cookie bar. I actually woke up with the idea in my head and it is super delicious! I used a chocolate cake mix as the crust, actually it was a dark chocolate cake mix. I mixed the cake mix with about a cup of melted butter and mixed it together and pressed it into the bottom of the crust, baked it for about 5 minutes. Then I added the rest of the toppings. I couldn't remember if I was supposed to do the sweetend condensed milk on the crust or on top of the toppings so I put it on last. The cake mix crust is really good! Just thought I'd share a different way to make them.

I hear so much about this, but don't think I've ever had one.

Will have to try it. Often disappointed with faves.

We'll see. :)

Can I get a good description of the bar? I already have it on my snack list as I'm staying at POFQ but it looks heavenly.

Magic Cookie/7 Layer bars are typically made with a a graham cracker crust (crushed crackers & melted butter), then topped with chocolate chips, walnuts (or other nuts), butterscotch chips, coconut, and sweetened condensed milk and then baked until the condensed milk is bubbly and golden. Very additcting. As I posted earlier I tweaked the recipe today and I have eaten 4 of them.

i just wanted to say that i always thought my mom has a "gift" for being able to bring up cape cod (massachusetts) into any conversation she is in.

your daughter has a sore throat? once in cape cod, i had a sore throat, too.
the storm last night knocked tree branches down? once in cape cod, the wind did the same.
you bought a new sweatshirt? i bought one in cape cod!
etc. for anything you can imagine.

mad hatter, i think you may have this same gift with the magic cookie bar. i have noticed the magic cookie bar in multiple threads from you. how many threads would you guess? you crack me up!

Have all my ingredients now (needed a few from a US shop) so ready to make, but may need to hang on until a few extra people around as have a feeling I may end up eating a lot of these if not!!

Lots,&Lots&Lots. If their was a clinic for people who are hooked on these bars, then I would be their favourite client.:)
