An odd encounter

I went to the library to see my mother (she works there) and someone was there looking for information. (looking for information at a Library? odd!) Anyways they were looking for information on Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse! So my Mom just pointed them to me! It was very odd to have people come up to you while you are reading and asks you if you know anything about Disney. So I really scared them by taking out my Walt Disney report (extra one) my 2000 WDW CD and random other Disney items in my book bag. I then went to help them find the information for Mickey Mouse. I gave them the book I used for my biography project (Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney and the American Way of Life) gave them the exact page! LOL I think I scared them!

It felt so good to help them too!

Who said knowind "random" Disney information would never come in handy!

Just thought I would share

People beware to ask me about Disney. My roommate asked me a question once, I went to my room and came back with 5 planning videos, four maps and about 120 pounds of books, brochures and literature!

Sometimes I give people information when they haven't even asked. People think I am nuts, no one understands. My clueless BF insists (even though he has never been) that WDW is for kids. I would love for him to see this forum, we are all adults!

I have an even better story of how my disney knowledge spanning 31 years was a total waste. I have two secretaries who were going together to disney world for the first time with their respective daughters over labor day weekend in 2002. I immediately got involved at their request. I gave them tons of brochures, planning videos, theme park guide maps, hotel listings, etc. Helped them look online for the best deals for airfare and hotel. Now I was at the Parks at the same time they were there, but ..um..well...i purposefully avoided them...i can't deal with newbies. So anyway before they leave they tell me they are going to go the beach for a day to see dolphins and the boat leaves at 7:00 a.m.. "The beach??" I ask, "what beach?" "The beach in Orlando", they respond. Okay now i knew these people were in trouble. I explain orlando is in the middle of the state, are they going to the west or the east and do they realize it will be like 1 1/2 to 2 hr. drive to the coast in either direction. They were dumbfounded. I again urged them to look at the guide books. I mentioned the best rides at each park and helped them decide which two of the four parks they were going to visit as they didn't have enough time, esp. with that freakin dolphin trip.
So I come back over a week later, as I stayed for 7 days. I ask how it went. Well, one secretary immediately tells me that she is never going on vacation with the other. So as I piece together their vacation, i realize they spent their whole day at the MK with their ______ parked in front of the castle, some time in toon town, and only saw half of fantasyland. Both secretaries said to me, "where were all the rides? " I ask them about splash, SM, BTM, PoC, HM, Buzz, AE....their response ...what mountains? I asked them if they saw a big white pyramid mountain...they looked at me like I was crazy. I asked them if they realized there were rides to the left of the castle...they didn't believe me. :hammer:
At disney mgm, all they saw was Sunset Blvd. ..thats it. Again they didn't realize there was another entire section to the park.
At this point i 'm yelling....i gave you maps, for god's sakes the parks give you maps!! I also gave you videos!!! Didn't you wonder where all the rides on the video were??? Their response ...well, they didn't look at it. UGH!!!!!!!! :hammer:
KILL ME NOW!!
As for the dolphin trip...turns out a bus was supposed to pick them up at 600 a.m. and drive to Tampa...Needless to say they overslept. And the final kicker of the trip is they brought a time share and didn't know the company and who they were partnered with if any, of course I had to help them cancel the contract.
One last note...they loved IOA.

Woah, that story seems a little far fetched. No one is that dumb. Who would miss all the rides? Um, okay, I'll play along.

To sandjhooker: this week she isn't blonde! I actually feel bad making fun of her (my officemate accused me of being mean)...i just figured i'd share this story with all of you, as disney fans i figured Disney fans would appreciate it. I for one when i was told this story, could not get over it. My roomate kept telling me to let it go. However, my dad who knows where everyone restroom exists at Mk and Epcot ...told me she should be fired and how can we have her work for us. LOL

Hey Dox!! And to think our Mayor wants to cut school funding!! Just to give everyone a ray of hope, I helped two young ladies I work with who went with two children. Not only was I able to help them go, save money, gave some good restaurant tips etc. They actually listened to me!!! WOO HOO They both had a great time, found all the rides, and would go back tomorrow!! So as you see not all is lost!! Belle

Belle, I'm glad to hear that. I just helped a trainer at my gym and he had a good time and listened to most of the stuff I told him, esp. my restaurant recommendations. As for my secretaries...the one who no longer works for me blames the other one, who is a bit domineering as she is fifteen years older than the other. Accd. to her, my current secretary was obsessed with taking pics with the characters and getting autographs and did not want to miss the parades, so she wouldn't budge from the castle's shadow. Of course, she is a flake herself so who knows how truthful she was being (this is the same person who told a false story about herself and 9/11). But when I asked my secy about that, she replied .."well, when you get there at 11 a.m. , you can't see everything."
