I was recently told that the Magic Kingdom is 10 times the size of Disney Studios, Epcot is twice the size of the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom is twice the size of Epcot and Walt Disney World in its entirety is 49 square miles! Thats the size of San Francisco!

MK is 10x the size of MGM?! Dang!!
No that one is incorrect. The official numbers are:

MK 108 acres
Epcot 300 acres
Studios 130 acres
Animal Kingdom 500 acres

And yes WDW is about the same size as the city of San Francisco, and twice the size of the island of Manhattan.

However, not all of that land is developable, and even more is now considered protected wetlands.

I have this book about the making of Disney World. Isn't most of the wetland runoff and such from all the bodies of water that were created and reshaped?

No, what I was referring to as wetlands are the "wildlife preserve" areas that Disney created.

Wetlands?....All you have to do if you want to develop a wetland area in FL is create a wetland in another area all it takes is $$$ I see it everyday in So.Fl. with enough money and the right elected officials they could pave over the whole place.

Yes, they could. However, as Disney is a responsible corporation, they will not. They were the ones that protected the wetlands, not anyone else.

I also remember reading that walt became increasingly disappointed with the way that the roads around Disneyland turned into neon-light-motel strips. The reason he bought up all the land he did was specifically to prevent the paving over of everything green, as well as leave room for future expansion that he knew would take place.

True, then Disney goes ahead and builds the Epcot Resort area on top of Epcot craming things in so tight making it hard to expand anything even if they wanted to.

I thought I heard that there was still enough land left for two more parks and several resorts, not even touching the Preserve areas. I can't imagine them doing another park, and as for more resorts, they haven't finished POP yet or SSR, so I don't think that will happen anytime soon. There definitely enough land though.
