We try to build a little bit of time to ourselves into each trip, actually. Family trips inevitably requires compromise at just about every turn, and knowing that we'll each have a few hours to do whatever we want without regard to the rest of the family's wishes makes those compromises much easier to make. Also, it is astonishing the amount you can get accomplished when it's just you. I tacked on an evening at DLR to a business trip last summer, and I got an incredible amount done in just a few hours.

I ultimately prefer experiencing it at all with my family, but I would not hesitate to take a short solo trip if the opportunity presented itself, and do enjoy having some time to myself on trips.

I took a solo trip a couple years and have to admit it was one of the best trips I've taken in a while, now I live alone and the only thing I missed were my dogs but I had a blast, talked to the cast members and did all the weird things my family never wanted to.

Its worth it to do at least once

I made numerous solo trips before I was married, never a problem and always enjoyed them. Would actually spend 2-3 weeks on my own in Orlando too and not just a few days. I'm comfortable in my own company but even so Disney CM's always seemed to make the extra effort to acknowledge me when I was by myself, especially when entering shops (or they suspected me of shoplifting and were letting me know they were onto me!). Also when eating on my own at Disney I found cm's would make the effort to chat more as if they were trying to make sure you were ok and not lonely.

One year at the Studios I saw the same cm twice over a few days serving at the ice cream and cake place near the time boards and fountain. She was very friendly and chatty and the second time came and joined me at the table as she said she was on her break. It was years later when telling my wife that she informed me that there was a very good possibility that this girl liked me (I still doubt it) and told me I was a complete dork for not seeing that and for not asking her out later on. If true, I really missed an opportunity there

Edit: I don't mean I got the wrong girl, I didn't. But back then it could have been a better evening than sitting in Mcdonalds on my own like I did.

On our last trip I spent the last few hours in the MK on my own on our last night. Everybody else was wiped out and had headed back to the resort to pack and sleep. It was a great few hours. Rode whatever rides I wanted and just wandered and enjoyed the park.
