Recently I have noticed that many refurbishments, updates, and little repairs have been appearing slowly throughout Walt Disney World. I for one cannot experience maintenance first hand since I live in Tennessee!:hungry: Even though I live afar, I have noticed many tiny touches that have been taking place. These are the touches that create the overall experience. So, is it just my opinion or has there been an increase in maintenance. I understand many things still need attention from the Disney Dark Age, but is it improving?

I've personally commented a few times to friends/family about how it seems the list of refurbs has been a lot longer over the last two years than it had been prior. There are still a lot of attractions in need of some attention but I think overall they're doing a better job. With the "major" projects they have going on I am a little surprised when I see the minor refurbs still happening (in a good way) and it leads me to hope that once they big stuff is done, the general maintenance will pick up again and stay on track.

In their own way, TDO seems to be trying to tackle some maintenance issues.

One shift that I've noticed (but I could be wrong) is away from the 'send over a guy tonight to replace one lightbulb', to a more efficient 'complete periodical refurb'. There seems to be an increased budget for the latter, including for plussing and adding. Although the results of all that plussing to my liking are mixed. In fact, often downright awful, such as with the Mansion, Thunder and even Pirates.

You would think that after awhile that the pendulum WILL at some point start to swing the other way. As much as I disparage current TDO, I really want to believe that someone up there realizes that neglect in any way or no matter how "insignificant" is just plain bad for business.

I for one am glad to hear reports like this. Thanks for the encouraging post!

Some areas have seen improvement while others seem to go ignored or get worse. I cannot say that the trend is entirely on the upswing IMO but I will say I see effort on some areas which is certainly encouraging. Water features not working and closed/empty buildings do still grind my gears though. I do believe that the money (not sure of amounts) spent on Magic Bands and My Magic+ could have been better spent on existing features but time will tell if that was a good long term expenditure...our vacation dollar for next year though has gone to Aruba even in light of the fact that I could have chosen to go and write the trip off due to voluntary attendance at a convention. We may try again in four more years though to see what TDO has wrought with their plans.

They have fixed the sad look building facades in Adventureland and along Main Street. Tomorrowland is still in rough shape. But Epcot looks like someone intentionally went through and sprayed dirt and mold all over future world. They just need to power wash then repaint literally half of that park. Or maybe just close all of FW permanently and relocate the entrance to The International Gateway.

I was just thinking, I was just in Epcot last weekend, and I'd have no idea what any of the FW buildings looked like, outside of Mousegears. Sad to hear they aren't looking so good. We make a beeline for WS for the event. Mom didn't even want to stop at Starbucks (this time) which is really saying something, she never misses a chance at Starbucks.

Maintenance should be routine, fixing little things as they need fixing and keeping everything fresh and clean on a regular basis.

The fact that they finally got rid of the mold on Maelstrom isn't something I cheer for. They also replaced those tiles with dark tiles, so now people won't see the mold when t forms, which is just gross.

All new bathrooms are designed to hide dirt. I'd be happier if they actually kept them clean.

But Yes, they do seem to be fixing a lot of stuff that was way overdue for it.

In the MK I pointed out to a CM that a molding was damaged on a post in liberty square and two days later it was repaired. Just needs someone to point it out, used to be they found the defect on their own but it is something.

Has anyone noticed that on the top of SSE there is dark..."funk" that can be seen as you approach the park by vehicle? Forgot all about that until you mentioned the needed powerwashing.

Someone actually posted a thread about that a few weeks ago but for the life of me now I can't find it. They posted it thinking SSE had been hit by lightning because the funk was so dark and right at the top. I've never in my life seen that on SSE... it was kind of sad.

The stories I have been rehearing and reading is that Iger has finally woke up and realized Disney is not like other Corporations, it lives or dies on its reputation not the bottom line. His bean counters cutting all over the place is the biggest cause of the attraction/rides problems and poor maintenance.

They seem to have been leashed and muzzled! Thankfully!

The last 2 years things seem to indeed be changing, more maintenance and clean up like the old days, more and unfortunately longer refubs like Splash mountain.

Also the new attractions/rides/lands seem to be more fact and lesser rumors.

I would so love to see this continue and we get the real WDW back!
