I had not been able to return to Ecpot for many years, but was able to in 2000 (and again in 2001!). One thing that I had noticed, was that Spaceship's awe-inspiring finale had been cheapened.

With Epcot, I always got a feeling that mankind had potential, and as Horizons put it "If we can dream it, we can do it".

Now, our awe-inspiring vision of the future in Spaceship Earth is-
Ta-dah!!! The internet. Yeah... How glorious.
(Yes, I know how ironic this sounds, with me talking to a bunch of friends over the net...)
I miss the futuristic space city, a dream than mankind can trancend above his earthly roots and explore. The futuristic city was a sight to behold

It's still there, you know... they just don't light it up anymore. Use a camera with a massive flash and you'll be able to see the city.

My wife and I, both big fans of the original... were crushed the first time we saw this butchery...

What city are you talking about? The one with the bridge on the water? That is still lightened...or it was in December...if it's not, it'r probably light failure...

Last time I went it was lit up. I have it on video actually. I'm sure it's just some kind of power failure or a shorted out wire or something.

The lights were out...

The lights were out on all of the times we rode it, during two trips in different years... The second time we went to WDW, we asked a Cast Member and she said that they never show the city.

Hmmmph. That's really strange. I wonder what the odds of it happening to us are...

What he is talking about is after you see the many people talking to eachother (after the whole space scene...seeing earth/classroom) on the little screens on your right...there is a small city...then a bridge over water leading to the other side of the model. A wave of sparkles moves from the city to the roof and creates that whole line/spark thing...

It's the big mammoth black room....

The big room that's completely black. It's the largest room in the entire exhibit. You can't possibly miss this room. There was a massive city spanning the entire room with hovercars, similar to the space stations in Horizons.

This is also the room with the planet projected on the ceiling.

Please tell me that my group isn't crazy...
(shrugs shoulders, and meanders back to the Haunted Mansion...)

Are you thinking of the city of the future that was in Dreamflight? That was in a big dark room.

i've heard about that rumor Grim, and I think there is some truth behind it. There is definately something there in the darkness that isn't lit up, although you can tell it should be. I'm just not sure what it is. I've heard all kinds of stuff, most recently, I think it was astronauts or something.

The city you speak off is not from SpaceShip Earth. It's from World of Motion. It's gone now. But that's what you are thinking of. Spaceship Earth on the otherhand, used to have a spaceship in the large planetarium. Now, it is still there, but not lit up. There was never a "City" in Spaceship Earth until the fiberoptic one was built that is still there today. The reason the Internet is used at the end of Spaceship Earth, is because the entire ride is about communication!

Use a large enough flash and you'll see the city that is still there. I swear it...

A lot of rides in the early Epcot exhibits sported a futuristic city. Mayhaps this one was a massive space station, but that's still a city in my book.

If anyone's a local, please check it out, or I may just lose my sanity...
