Pre-Trip An Anniversary, a Birthday and no kid. February 2014

I thought I'd start a pre-trip report in the hopes it will inspire me to do a Trip Report when we get back.

Things have come together nicely. We booked in October, about a week before the winter discounts were announced. Actually it was the day before the Visa discount was announced (no Disney Visa then but I have one now). We are staying at POFQ and the room discount didn't apply there but the Play, Stay and Dine discount saved us about $300 and allowed us to remain at FQ. We stayed at PORS last January and loved it but wanted at smaller, more romantic location. It is our 15th Anniversary!

We'll start traveling on a Saturday, my husband's birthday, with an overnight stay in Charlotte. Flights were much cheaper from Charlotte than Charleston, WV. We'll fly from Charlotte to MCO on Sunday and should arrive at 9:30 am. We've made the drive from WV to WDW before and it's just not our thing. While we've been married for almost 15 years our ability to travel that distance in a car together has just never worked out. ME will pick us up and hopefully we'll arrive at POFQ by 11am.

I'll be following up with our ADRs and FP+ choices. We don't have any plans made prior to 4:00 pm that evening. I've thought about DTD, exploring our resort or? Suggestions?

So the tshirts have been made. We are usually the red tshirt family but since my son isn't going he said we couldn't use red so this time we are the teal/royal blue couple. The color in the photos isn't great. It's been a dreary weekend here in WV so natural lighting wasnt available for great pics. The glitter in the numbers and balloons is silver but looks iridescent in the pics. Anyway, here they are.

The back is the same for both as are the sleeve but my DHs balloon on the front has a 40 cut out while mine is just solid.
Nothing super fancy but fun to wear for pics.

Well after additional help from @HouCuseChickie I've found that the Contemporary is no longer customizing the mini wedding cakes. The two CMs that I talked with last week were right. Darn it. Tomorrow I'm making a call to the AKL Bakery. Think Ill have a cake delivered to Sanaa with an animal theme for DHs surprise Wild Africa Trek tour. He won't be expecting the cake or the tour. Hopefully that will go well. Just 14 days. This time in two weeks I'll be at BOG. Can't wait!

Thank you! Yes i will be running the races that weekend! Maybe we will cross paths at some point. Won't be in any parks since its a no parks just running/relaxing trip, but will be around the MK area since we're staying at the Poly!

Maybe you should try the horse and carriage ride they have there? They look so fun and romantic

I'd love to try the carriage rides but as usual I've booked us solid for dinners etc. It may work one evening but I'm not sure. It gives us something to do on our next trip!

Well I've placed my order at the AKL Bakery. It may just be a surprise cake for me too. The CM I spoke with was lovely, really nice and explained everything but we couldn't understand each other. I'm sure my accent wasn't helping her and hers wasn't helping me. LOL. I think we got everything squared away but I'm calling next week to confirm. Just not sure what I wanted written on the cake is exactly what she heard. Besides ordering cake I've been busy packing. All my Disney apparel is ready to go and so am I. This time in 2weeks I'll be dining at Cali Grill. Wahoo!

Well since I can't seem to find anything else to do right now I'm on a mission for an 8 or 8:15 ressie at Crystal Palace for our last morning. I'm just going to have to stalk the ADRs.

No dice on the Crystal Palace yet. I'm still hoping for lunch on 3/1 at BOG but the FP+ still hasn't opened up. I've seen other threads on other boards saying that people are receiving the email invite after they check in so if I don't get the FP+ before then maybe it will happen while I'm there. At this point I'm just honestly happy about going to WDW as a whole and the BOG lunch is just icing on the cake. I think I've completely over thought every ADR and realized the other day that the only one I haven't changed since October when we booked this trip was the Beirgarten on our last night. We really love that place.

OK, as for FP+ I'm a little nervous. Yesterday there was a little glitch in the system and you were able to change Tier 2 choices to Tier 1 at HS and EP. Well, I changed a couple and honestly now I feel bad about it. They've fixed the glitch so you can't make the same changes now but everything is showing in MDE so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it works.

Single digit dance party..........9 days! 10+ inches of snow yesterday and 3 more coming tonight. I'm so done with winter. Anna and Elsa need to stop!!

Super packing mode starts tonight. Looking at the long range forecast 60s and 70s are as warm as it may get for my week at WDW but hey, I'll take that over what we've had here in WV this winter. May try to order a Disney jacket or sweatshirt today - 25% off on Disney Store. Would it arrive in time? Not sure. Maybe I'll just wait until we get there.

Ok. I've tried setting this countdown thing up and it never looks right. So let's see if it's right in my signature.

Edit: So, I just can't seem to get that Countdown thing to work. Only 9 days now so I'll just wait to set it up when I get back. Hoping for a countdown for October.

So excited. We'll be leaving next Saturday with a stop over in Charlotte, NC for our flight on Sunday morning. Called yesterday about moving our trip up a day and leaving Charlotte on Saturday evening. Hah! That's a no. It would have been $1200+ just to change our flights. I guess that's why they tell you when you book a non refundable ticket to make sure you really want to fly on that day.

I made Mousekeeping envelopes this morning. Saw something on another site about cute envelopes and thought I'd give it a whirl. Much better than just leaving some cash on the dresser or sink area.

Bought rain ponchos earlier in the week so it won't rain while we are there. Trying some reverse psychology on Mother Nature. The 10 day extended forecast is getting better and better.

Can't wait to be on our way!

Well I'm down to 3 days. 3 LLLLOOONNGGG days. Called to check on my cake yesterday. As luck would have it I got the same lady I had last week when I ordered it. I'm still not sure exactly what I'm getting. Oh well, it will be a nice surprise.

The forecast next week looks like I'll have a little rain here and there but really I'm not that worried about it. A passing shower is ok. Sometimes it'll clear out the park making it easier to ride multiple favorites.

My newest dilemma is Wishes. I realized a few days ago that we won't be on Main Street one time for Wishes. I've never seen Wishes from MSUSA and I've never seen the Electric Parade so I feel like it's something I need to mark off my list. Wishes is at 8pm every night we are there and our ADRs and everything just aren't working out to be there. Hopefully we'll see them from Cali Grill on Monday and the beach at the Poly on Wednesday before Ohana. Just in case I can't stand it I made an ADR for Sunday at LTT for 8:40 and we may just cancel BOG (I know!) at 7:25. Not sure. Need to decide though. I did finally get the BOG FP lunch for our last day so that's great and might not make me miss our dinner so much.

Can't wait to get there.
