I wish Ukraine peace...soon! Not because of bread but because I want them to live a normal life again.
Yet back to our topic, why can't we be self sufficient re. bread?
The purpose of this post is to give anyone an opportunity to teach me why (even though our country's mid-west has the nickname "The breadbasket")

I live in the Midwest and I’ll tell you why we don’t make bread ingredients. It’s because we’re growing almost exclusively soy and corn. And almost all of our soy and corn isn’t for human consumption, it’s for the animals we eat. We don’t have room for human food here until people eat less steak.
