American Idol Should Replace WWTBAM?

Even though Disney owned ABC which aired Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and they don't own Fox, I think it would be cool if they turned WWTBAM into an American Idol type ride where park guests can see if they can sing or not for the audience and whether the audience thinks they are good or not. If they do go on, they could make one of those Karokoe type videos and take it home with them. Any feedback?

"Who Wants to be a Millionare?" is a very popular and easy to maintain attraction. Why would they need to replace something that draws in a lot of guests?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it....

I don't think its viable. It would either have to be serious and incorporated into the regular show as far as auditions etc and that would mean investing in something that may not be around in a few years if the ratings go sour. Millionaire went sour quick, but its an ABC property and they've tried to milk. If it wasn't taken seriously, and just as a guest going up there having no idea they were going to sing that day etc i think it would get old quick and they wouldn't have enough people who were serious about their voices to balance out the egos that just want to make their friends laugh in the audience. Also i doubt Fox would ever want to be associated with the latter.

American Idol, as much as i despise it, is a hot commodity right now. Disney would have to invest a considerable amount of money into a temporary joint venture with Fox.

Also, if Disney was to do a joint venture with Fox with re to television series, it would be perceived as having no faith in ABC, which already has a problem with programming going downhill. They'd be spending money to suffer a stock drop.

While i am definitely not one of the biggest millionaire fans out their i think it would be awful if Disney did American Idol-Sing it the ride. I can imagine the promo right now.

ANNOUNCER: Its time to sing, sing, sing with American Idol at the Disney MGM Studios. Where Mickey, Goofy, and Donald tell you how much your singing sucks. Here at the Disney MGM- Studios. Also coming soon the Muppet Real World.

Yeah, I LOVE the show, but I'm not so sure about the ride.

It's bad enough the TV execs save bucks with "reality" TV by using free, amateur "talent." I would hope Disney would not go down this path and cheapen their show standards.
Then again, replacing performing CMs with park guests would be right up Eisner's alley!

Besides, the whole appeal of American Idol is watching talentless idiots humiliate themselves on national TV, then get slammed by the critics. This probably isn't the type of thing that really fits at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Do any of the WDW parks have a Karoke (wish this thing had spell check) area where people can do songs? I have seen this at other parks where the singing is not done in a 'sit down' amphitheter, but just an open area. It is usually done in the evening until closing and is fairly entertaining.

Some of those people have 'balls as big as Church Bells' to get up and sing with the lack of talent they have.

Karaoke can not be found in the parks. However, I'm pretty sure that you can sing and record your very own music video in a place in Downtown Disney!:)

You can record your own cd/cassette/music video at Superstar something or other at Pleasure island. I have done it twice and it is really expensive for the quality. But I think you have at least a little musical talent, it is kidna fun to do once. :)

I always thought a Disney karaoke thing would be a great nighttime event at one of the parks. Like have the Tomorrowland Stage set up for karaoke in the evenings. That would be fun!

I'm not sure many people would go to Disney to have their personality ripped to shreds... Ok, maybe I would, but that would only be because it was in Disney...

But what may work not as a replacement but an addition to the studios is a new version of the Mickey Mouse Club where America gets to vote on the Mouseketeers. So basically they could auditon vocal, dance, and acting and then you get to watch teh cast you voted for for the following season, and the backstage tour would have something to look at. hmmm...

WDWhumanmap,

I have absolutely no Idea what you have just said. :brick:

To make reading your posts easier, I would suggest not using fragments and run off sentences. Also, the use of capital letters at the start of sentences would be great. Finally, sentences should be grouped together with ideas that are similar in context.

I'm not trying to pick on you. However, every time I try to read your posts, I am forced to skip over them because they are so darn confusing to read.

I don't expect perfect grammar (I can't even write that well), but the use of proper punctuation would help me out loads.

Thank you so very much!:)
