They will get several years out of this attraction i would think. It wont get tired that fast because there are always new people coming to the world. And some of those will want to sing.

Just Great!

This is going to be a disaster-the American Idol show is in the decline, so
in another year or two the show will be history. I can't believe they couldn't figure out something better for this theater!

Everything in that theatre has been a disaster. They haven't had anything good since the old show where you interacted with the cast of Cheers and Home Improvement. The actual name is slipping me right now. I thought Doug was a complete mess, so far it's been the only show I've ever walked out on. Just thinking of the show now enrages me.:brick:

Half of the draw to AI is the bad singers and people the general public can laugh at. How could they reproduce that at at a kids park. That's just mean and I doubt that you could get enough people that could actually sing to put on a decent show. Sure people "think" they can sing but come on. Then you get some 14 year old that truly believes they can sing and leaves in tears. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. I guess Universal gets people to participate in Fear Factor for no prizes so anything is possible

My guess would be that they will have at least 1 or 2 cast members be the "bad" singers and that the actual guests will only get praise (but varying amounts of it).

That would be a good idea and could really add a lot of fun to the show. Kind of like the plant that they have for the Indy show. I can't tell you how many times I've worn a bright pink flowery shirt to the Indy show hoping they would pick me as the plant by accident.

I dont know if this will draw more attendance to the attraction, but the announcement has been on FOX news, and local news. They also announced that the daily winner will also get an automatic audtion for the real show. This means there will be a screaning process most likely to insure the same eligiblity as there is to audition for the real Idol, such as age and whatever ather requirements the real auditions have. The abilty to sing is obviously not one of these for the real show. The production company behind idol is really behind this one, so it might be quite popular foir at least a few years. i just hope they open it quickley, I assume the goal would be to open at the same time as the season starts next year, I dont think there's anyway they could get it open near the highly rated finals in may. Its cheesy, but with over 30 million viewers a week, theres a lot of audiance out there. I see an Idol week coming too, or Idol weekend, simmilar to an ESPN Weekend.

As long as it doesn't get too many weirdos as frequent visitors, like WWTBAM did, I'm all for it.

Have to give Disney credit for once again targeting one of their biggest weaknesses: things for teenagers to do

***WARNING***

Major thread bump occurring...please keep your hands and feet inside your...well...you get the idea...

Came across this today and didn't think it was appropriate for the 'AI sign' thread, so figured this was as good a place as any:

From the Disney careers page:

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING 'ACTORS/ PERSONALITIES' OF ALL ETHNICITIES AND SHAPES/SIZES:

HOST: Male, 20s – 30s. Charismatic, handsome, trim, hip. Quick wit and improv skills needed. In synch with the times: look and slang. Knowledge of American Idol and the music industry a plus. Confidently ringmaster all the hosting elements of a fast-paced multimedia show.

JUDGES:Male and Female, 30s – early 50s. Music educated with extensive music background. Confident, big personality/charismatic. Improv and comedy skills needed. These roles are not intended to be an impersonation of the American Idol Judges as seen on TV. Types needed: Hip, Optimistic, Comically Constructive. Judges will provide constructive and knowledgeable vocal feedback, always with an entertaining twist.

I thought it was interesting that it says 'These roles are not intended to be an impersonation of the American Idol Judges as seen on TV'...and then they immediately follow that with 'Types needed: Hip, Optimistic, Comically Constructive'...which pretty much describes Randy, Paula, and Simon...
