AMC Fork & Screen

Wasn't sure if this should go under restaurants and dining or not - Mods will move for me if it does I guess :)

Just wondering if anyone has gone to a movie at the AMC Theatres in Downtown Disney and did the "Fork & Screen" option. I'm going with 2 of my girlfriends and we all love horror movies (and food) and would love to take advantage of the menu. :slurp:

My questions are:

How far in advance do you need to book seats - is this something we should look at a few days early or are we OK showing up that evening to book our seats?

Do they offer this option for all movies or just select few? I imagine not all of the theatres are equipped with the tables and server call buttons.

Did you find the food service disruptive to the movie or is it done fairly discreetly?

Thanks for the input!

Booked my last seats the same day. Of course, the more popular/new a film is, it may pay to book in advance.

Its only a few of the thearers.

Works wonderfully. If possible, I'd see all movies that way from now on.

In short....it's awesome.:D

Thanks. So glad to hear you enjoyed it.

I'm going to be so spoiled after this. Going back to counter service popcorn and nachos just isn't going to do it for me after having a full menu and a server.

I hope there's a good scary movie on with the dining option...and we're ok with kind of cheesy scary movie, too. One of my friends is a screamer in the theatre and on any scary ride and it's her first time to Disney so it should be a loud one :)

Before you get all excited about this -- it really depends on what people mean by "awesome"....

To me, "awesome" is sitting in a completely black theater, alone with a big screen and a good movie.

If for you, "awesome" means eating being more important than the movie; in a theater that never goes dark; and which has runner lights on the desk in front of you that stay on the entire movie; then by all means, go enjoy.

I accidentally bought tickets here for a showing of a movie last summer not knowing the above, and as soon as I could see the lights were never going to go off, I went around the block the the regular AMC to watch my movie in a completely dark theater.

I don't get the entire concept.

Yeah, the lights may get to me, especially for a horror flick - I think dark is better for the scary stuff but I figured there would have to be some runner lights for the servers.

I'm still excited to try it. I don't know how other theatres in the US but where I am you can't have a nice beer and a decent meal for the movie. Makes me miss living in Copenhagen where I could get a good draft and a clubhouse and fries before heading into the theatre :slurp:

I love the Dine in theater. I did go when they first opened and they did leave lights on, but lately the past few times I have gone the theater is real dark except for the lights in front of you. Didn't bother me at all. The food is great and it's a decent price. The chairs are super comfy and spacious. As for buying tickets in advance, you should have any problems walking up and buying tickets a couple of hours before the movie.:)

Dining @ Movies

We love it. You really don't have to get your seats in advance when we go to the first showing. The meals are not expensive but I've never tried the drinks as they are costly. I was also impressed at the "parental" guidelines enforcements with "R" rated movies. The servers we've had are great and do a great job of getting your food to you before the movies. Have fun.
