Alternate Fantasmic! show

Has anyone personally seen what happens when the dragon does not come out? I know the show doesn't stop, but they do something different.

I remember hearing that Maleficent comes back into the scene. Not sure exactly what she does, however.

I saw it once on a somewhat breezy night and a very short version of the dragon came out

If you notice before the dragon comes out Maleficent rises up above the mountain. This is incase the dragon does not come out, Mickey will interact with her instead and she will light the river on fire from her hign position.

We saw it the first time we saw Fantasmic! - imagine waiting 9 years since seeing the first Disneyland previews on TV and having the Dragon go 101 the first time we saw it...

Everything went fine until the Dragon started to appear. It got stuck half way, and Maleficent was already back to ground level - she shot back up to full height (VERY quickly - perhaps thats why she is now already there just in case) and if I recall cast her wand to start the fire effect (no fireball) - Mickey interacted with her, some of the Varilights flashed at her & she dropped back down during the lightning projections. All this with the Dragons head sticking out of the mountain, even when the lights came up after the show.

And I could kick myself for promising to Michelle to leave the video camera at the CBR that night (we`d just arrived at WDW)

I vaguely remember reading something published soon after the Disneyland Fantasmic premier saying that they have a massive number of contingency plans--basically an alternate version for every major effect, just in case of a failure. I remember specifically a mention of a set of alternate choreography just in case the Snow Queen's cauldron fails to appear. Anybody know of any other contingency plans?

My best friend said this happend to her when she went last month. She said it wasn't as cool as the dragon version. I have the Dragon version on video tape, so if this happends to me this December I will not be to upset because then I will have both on video.

This has yet to happen to me. Good thing it has not. I hope it does not happen in Dec. I want my friend to see the real deal.

My sister worked at a vendor cart at the Fantasmic show a couple years ago. She said this happens often. And unless you know about the dragon you wouldn't know anything went wrong

I was there one night when the show started (mickey pops up) and then the light went out, they said the were experiencing difficulties and the show started again a few minutes later. Come to find out Mickey's foot got stuck in the contraption the pops him out. I had heard the Mickey had broken his foot.

I know they have a shorter version if rain is threatening.

I've seen the Maleficent version. The dragon never did make an appearance that night and if you hadn't seen it before, you'd never have known there was a difference. She rose on a platform until she was above the mountain and intereacted with Mickey in the same way the dragon would have.

I remember the Malificent ending, saw it once, like, two years ago.
I remember an alternate fantasmic where the Queen's Cauldron didn't show up, and she ended up having to push back the hood to make the gray hair appear. That was actually pretty cool to see that. Other than that, the only alternate I've seen was where John Smith didn't swing across the mountain.

So what your saying is that if the cauldron that delievers the witch does not show, then the Queen has to do a costume change?

Yes, the queen has to do a quick costume change. But basically all it is is that she loses the crown and gets white hair.
