Alligator Bayou Or Magnolia Bend

Hi All,

We are staying at POR again this year and I was wondering who all out there has stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms at Alligator Bayou and what was your experience like?

Last year we stayed at POR for the first time and fell in love. We stayed in Mangolia Bend in the Magnolia Terrace mansion and loved everything about it. The room, the location...everything.

Just thought it may be nice to try another style room. What's your thoughts?

We haven't stayed there, but I've been looking at pictures in case we take our sons' friend since Alligator Bayou can sleep five. I noticed that the murphy bed takes the place of the dresser, so you'll only have two or three drawers underneath - not sure if that's a big deal to you. If I'm not mistaken, all the AB rooms are or will be like that. Just a thought. We'd make it work if that's the plan. I think AB is very pretty and relaxing - love the style inside and out.

We had always stayed in the mansions and loved it and never would have considered the Alligator Bayou. But if we had children, that definitely might have changed things. I think children might enjoy the bayou more and you can actually get a building closer to the food court than any mansion. I have seen pictures of the renovated bayou rooms and it does look very nice.

We stayed in building 17 of Alligator Bayou and loved it. We liked the theming of the plants and the bayou atmosphere. It felt "southern" and laid back. We also had a great location next to the pool and the bus stop took us 3 minutes flat to walk it (we timed ourselves). If we went to this resort again I would want this section again.

we've been in a regular mansion room and one of the new royal guest rooms (both standard views). we're actually starting a stay in a preferred room so it will be alligator bayou on july 22nd. i have to say the royal guest room was a lot of fun and i'd do that again in a heartbeat. the regular mansion rooms i like and feel they're equal to pofq and csr both of which i also liked. on the 2 stays we've already done i didn't find it a problem getting to the pool but it would have been a bit of a hike to just go to the main area for things like drink refills. my 8 y/o granddaughter actually chose to try a preferred room and therefore an alligator bayou room on this upcoming trip so it was something new...i was all set to do a royal room again lol.

I've only stayed in the Alligator Bayou. But I've walked throughout Magnolia Bend.
For me, the atmosphere is far more immersive in theme at Alligator Bayou.

Thanks for all the input! I'm going to put it to fa family vote and then make a request for whatever DD & DH decide.....either way we'll be at Disney at POR so it's all good!

We love Alligator Bayou for...how do you spell it?....oh yeah.........S-E-R-E-N-I-T-Y.

Serenity now!

As for the original question, I'd go with Alligatory Bayou. To me, the rooms in Magnolia Bend look like rooms you'd find at a nice Hampton Inn. I don't find them particularly immersive.
