All Star Sports Room Request

I've never stayed at any of the All Star resorts. I'll be staying at the All Star Sports for a week in early August and wanted to give the "room request" a try.

This is what I'm looking for:
Want to be near the parking lot (taking my car and driving to the resorts)
Want to be away from noise (?pool area?)
Want to be away from food court area (won't ever eat there)

Any "building" advice?

went there early this year

We stayed in the Hoops Hotel, rather satisfied with it. Its a 1-3 minute walk to the bus-stop and is very quiet, never heard a noise actually until the morning when everyone is walking around outside. I'd recommend it because you don't have to pay the 'preferred' room rate which is only one building away and exactly the same type of room, just closer to the pool and food court.

Hoops is also right next to the side parking lot, not the main one in front of the main building with the food court and bus stop.

We were in building 5 at center court...
It was fantastic...
close to the parking lot...away from the pools...but close enough so that it was a short walk to swim...
I heard very little noise...and saw very few families on our building...if it was a family...they were older kids...

I say either go with hoops hotel or center court...those sound like the perfect location for you! For the extra privacy...request a room on the higher floors

I stayed in hoops building 3 once. I think it meets all your requirements. Ask for a room that faces the woods. That's what we had and it was very quiet. I also drive down when I go, #3 is pretty close to the parking lot. You can check out a map of the resort at www.wdwig.com.

One of the baseball-themed buildings would be good for distance from everything.

We've stayed in Building 10 (Football), and, depending on where your room is, it could be quiet (on the sides), or noisy (on the football courtyard). It's relatively close to the bus stop, and you can avoid the food court if you walk around on the east side.

That's just the info I was looking for.
I'll try to fax my request 4 days ahead of time.
At the very least, I'll be armed with the knowledge of where to be (or try not to be) at check in.

I've read a few things about the "football courtyard". What's that?

 Ask the reservation people for a "wooded view", that's usually the quietest areas at the ALL-STARS, and tell them one that's also near the parking lot, in case you have a bad back or something!!;)

Ok, very good advice from everyone. The problem is it's all subject to change. Of all the buildings your best bet is going to be somewhere in Center Court. UNLESS there are groups at the resort. It happens all the time. Groups are placed in buildings 2,3,4,and 5 because they are situated farther from the bus stops and the main hall which help to issolate noise from the rest of the guests. It also allows groups to be closer to Celebrity Hall their arrival and departure point. When you check in what you need to do is talk to your cast member. Expalin your request and concerns with them. Ask if there will be any groups in your building. Talk it over. Center Court might not even be open. Those are always the first buildings to be mothballed when guest counts are low.

Hope your trip goes well!

Well, here's what I'll do. I'll send in the fax request "assuming" no big groups will be in the outer areas. If when I arrive, it looks dicey then I'll try and see if they can swing something else. The "noise" is less of a problem than the location. I want to be near the parking lot for quick in and outs since I'll have a car the entire time and don't plan on eating at the resort.

I stayed in the baseball section of the all star sports and it couldn't have been closer to the parking lot. We stayed on the
back section of rooms which was just a stone throw from the
parking lot. It was quiet and nice for us since we did rent a car
and wanted to be quiet. Parking lot was never full so it was
easy to find a spot up close.

Thanks to the great suggestions here and going to some sites with resort pictures, I have a much better idea of the resort lay out and how to get what I need. Assuming it isn't at capacity, I'm sure to have no problem getting a "wooded" view close to the parking lot.

Driving everywhere instead of taking the buses will be a different experience! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
