Me and A few of my friends are planning to go to Disney in May after we get out of school for the year. Is the All Star resort a nice place to stay or would it be better off going to someplace else. Also which All Star is the best to stay at?

We've stayed there 3 of the last 4 trips, just for financial reasons. We like them- the rooms have been clean and the busses efficient. Food court is pretty good. Being the cheapest on property, you can't expect the same ammenities as the other resorts but I still think you get a very good place to stay for your money. If this means anything, my boss, who can afford to stay pretty much anywhere he wants and is not known to be particularly frugal, chooses All Star Movies every year. He just loves the theming. His family stayed at a moderate one year and despised it. So it's all a matter of taste.

I personally like Movies the best out of the three, but they are pretty much the same.

The All-Stars are WDW's budget hotels. They have nifty themeing, the rooms are clean, and they are on property. There are pools and a food court, but nothing fancy. Also, there are generally lots of families, with lots of kids.

If you want to stay on property and don't plan on spending alot of time in your hotel room, they're a nice, cheap option.

They're pretty much the same, just different themeing(sp?). I love All Star Movies, but it just depends on what you like better, sports, music, or movies. I'm trying to go in May when I get out of school too, but I'm going to try to stay at Pop Century, the new value resort. :)

The All Stars are a great deal....besides all your ever in the hotel for is to sleep and its a place to hang your clothes. The pools are nice, the theming is great and the food courts are easy and fast. It can get a little nuts if there is a big tour group staying at the hotel (Like when i was there in January and the marathon was happening and if you weren't running you got run over by someone who was) but other than that its a great value.

Movies is the best, almost always the quietest. For a cheap place to stay, the All-Stars can't be beat.

I'd recommend staying at Pop Century when it opens.

In the course of my WDW life I have stayed at:

As a child:
Off property
Polynesian
Tree Top Villas

As an adult:
Port Orleans
Dixie Landings
All Star Sports

I have to say compared to the other WDW resorts, I was dissapointed. The rooms are smaller, that I could deal with. It was the fact that it was very loud. There was a chearleading competition going on and all the chearleaders were staying in our hotel. If it were not for that, I think it would be fine. I would rather stay there than off poperty if that is your budget limit.

Just be prepared to live out of your suitcases. The do not give much room for putting clothes in the furniture.

If you're gonna be at the hotel alot, go some place else.
If you are gonna to be at the parks and at Downtown Disney all the time, it'll be fine.

It can be loud but if you get in late, you won't notice it at all.

Just got back from allstar movies, It was by far the worse trip to disney ever. The WDW transportation system is horrible, and unsafe. We waited several times for over an hour for the bus. and then we had to climb on and squeeze together where mothers with infant children had to stand.



grrrrrrrrrrr i think i will quit disney

Was this your first WDW Transportation experience? I have used it on enough occasions to know that it is neither horrible NOR unsafe. I'm sorry you had a bad trip but believe me, that is not the norm.

transportation from the all starts can be crowded but mainly during the most crowded times of year. i dont think it is unsafe tho...you want unsafe...just ride a NYC transit bus standing up (life altering experience) Any hotel in disney u stay at tho your gonna get squished on buses from time to time (and ppl are just downright rude...ive been forced to stand on a bus full of ppl while being visibly 6 months pregnant but none of the ppl around me seemed to care), especially at the park closing times....those are the worst....ur best bet is to be the last ones out of the park...disney will NEVER leave a guest behind so theres no need to run for the buses like you butt is on fire.
All in all....the all stars are good hotels for not alot of money (and the movies is usually the quietest)

I have stayed at Music once and Movies three times.:D

Longest bus wait was about 20 minutes during the NYE monsoon. Lines were a mile long but they sent buses from everywhere including lots of non-Disney buses. :cool:

I sleep and shower in the hotel so All Stars work great for me. I spend the money I save eating and drinking around Epcot's WS.:lookaroun

Buses are safe:wave: The CM drivers are great at avoiding the idoit drivers that cut in front of them and then slow to 10 mph to read the direction signs.

Movies, see ya on Dec. 28th for eight nights:sohappy:

I'm assuming since you said "you and your friends are going after school ends" that you are late teens early 20's.
If I assume correctly then you are short on money and are just looking for a good time. The All Stars are your best bet. I went last may with my two best friends (I was 19 and they were 18) after our freshman year of college. We stayed at the All Star Music (for 50 bucks a night -- I had an annual pass discount) and that gave us extra spending money we might not have if we stayed at another resort (aka--taking the train down instead of driving, buying lots of stuff, you get the picture) All you basically do is sleep and shower in the room so what do you care what it looks like? Just my two cents. Have a wonderful trip and let us all know how it ends up!

CDS, First of all, I would recommend if nothing else you definitely stay at a Disney World Resort property. If budget is a concern, the All Star Resorts are nice. I'd say the only diffeence in the actual rooms are they are slightly smaller than what you get at a moderate resort (ie. Caribbean Beach). If you don't plan on spending alot of time in the room or at the hotel, then the All-Star is for you. I personally prefered Movies, but the only difference is in the theming. The only drawback I found is that the buss routes to the parks take quite a while, because of the location of the resorts and because the shuttle stops at all 3 All-Star Resorts. If you were looking to upgrade your resort, any of the moderate resorts are great (speaking from experience, the only one I haven't stayed at was PO Riverside)

All-star resorts are fine if you're not spending much time there. They're simple, so don't expect the world. I've stayed at the All-Star Sports and like it because when the buses arrive to the All-Star hotels they head there first so you have a better chance of getting a seat. They also drop off there first when you return from the parks. If you want to spend a little more money then your options open up. Don't expect Spring Break atmosphere.

:D Just got back-- ( Sports this time, Movies or Music was not aval.) I agree with most of the above. The only differences: "one" sink!, ( for us the biggest problem) smaller room, reg bed/not queen, no real view-- sit down resturant, but for the price it can not be beat. Moe n$$ for every thing else ! :D

You can ask for another luggage rack, that helps out.
Also, we were disappointed that a coffe maker was not available, like at the other resorts. So, if you are a big coffee drinker bring a hot cup or coffee maker with. You can also pick up one at wal-mart for 12-15 $$ if you forget. That is if you have a car. (open 24 hrs) The food court has drinks until 12 pm but my daughter needed :confused: :hammer: some at 6 am--- ? ( Also NO!!!! instant coffee anywhere to be found on property !!)

As far as the bus service, it used to be a problem at the Movies, but now they have a seperate bus just for that hotel !! Yes, it can be busy when you return-- just take your time--:lookaroun they will not leave you! MK has a bus for each All Star resort.

I have stayed at several of the resorts, but let me see stay 4 days at PO, 2 at Wilderness Lodge, or "8" days at one of the All Stars? Depends on your budget I guess. Another thought-- depending on how many you are going with, you can have 2 rooms at the All Stars, or one at the moderate??

Anyway , what ever you decide to do have a wonderful trip AND DO stay on propety!!! It really makes all the difference!!! Sooooooo much better! :D :sohappy: :wave:

Think I might try Pop Century as it is the newest-- a little father away but-- new and only one hotel for the bus' hummmmmmm:lookaroun
