The real question is, is any of this thread relevant since it was from aug last year?
The labels are not meaningless because they are subject to certain standards. In-room hallways vs outside entrance rooms like a motel. Table service restaurants vs food courts. Location to the parks, in house amenities like theming of pools, gyms are all very different between categories. Not to mention general decour and size of rooms are all skewed infavor of the higher end resorts
Yeah I guess the "label" is not important, and from what we hear, Disney is trying to say the same thing. But I for one know where I would rather stay. I still think thee is a difference between the best value (AoA) and the cheapest moderate (CBR)....all of which is dependent upon the specific resort, even within the categories.
i.e. Wilderness Lodge is a Deluxe, but the rooms are small compared to some other resorts within that category. The deluxe resorts also have to most difference in price between them compared to moderate vs moderate, value vs value.
I know there are some givens that automatically come with each respective category, but I don’t think the labels themselves matter all that much.
