All our plans may fall apart

My wife and I booked our trip for September 25th-October 4th, got approval from work, plan tickets, made a bunch of plans. Now, due to some company accidentally scheduling something during Yom Kippur, they have to change the date, and if they do to a time our trip would be, my wife's company will revoke their approval!! Has anything similar ever happened to you? In all of our years together there has never been a vacation request that has come even close to being denied, so this is new to me.

Where I work, we look out and care for one another. ;)

I understand not all companies operate within a culture like this...hence my "ehhh..all companies have different rules" comment.

I'm a troubleshooter when things go bad I fix them, My company though moderately large has relatively few of us, We do our best to take care of each other but our core value is to take care of our customers no matter what.

You know what's funny?

So basically what you are telling me is if you get hit by a bus tomorrow, your company is screwed. :p

I felt your pain. I am glad you were able to work things out. I had done it twice to my boss, and she didn't like it, but there really weren't any restrictions as to when you could take leave .... surprise.... now there is! I am a teacher, so I can only go Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter/Spring, and Summer.... all the busiest months!

My husband works for a refinery here in NorCal and yes, we have had to cancel a vacation due to an explosion at the refinery(no lives lost Thank God) that required pretty much all hands on deck 24/7 for 6+mos and we were two weeks shy of our trip. Nothing we could do and it really had nothing to do with the company(which is a wonderful one) not wanting to work with us. Everyone's vacations were cancelled from the top of the food chain on down. We had already gotten used to it though since he is a 28yr AF vet(retired 16yrs ago) and no one ever gets guarantees in that job either. Hard lesson to learn but the extra couple hundred for vacation insurance is something worth it but it is like all insurance, you pay for it in hopes that you never have to use it but if you need it, you are glad you have it.
