My husband and I are heading to wdw Oct 24-27th for f&w. We didn't want to book rooms until we knew what events we'd be able to book for f&w (like demo's etc...). So on the opening day for f&w booking I was able to get what events we wanted for the above dates. Now I'm trying to book a hotel and everything shows no rooms available. My husband wants to stay at the poly and I've (online) checked every deluxe and deluxe villa and they all say no rooms available. I know there is a general fall discount out but totally full...that can't be right. I know I'm going to have to call but has anyone else had this happen online before???

Happened to me. Was loking around 10/4 at WL then Columbus day weekend and was told no AP Discount available and rooms full unless I wanted club level. Was also old nothing available with the 30% off promo. I ended up booking end of September right before the AP promo ends.
I was told that they are shifting promos around. I could pay AP rack rate and get the dining plan for October for a few other resorts. Said no thanks.

Something fishy is going on. I would imagine in an attempt to get occupancy numbers to appear higher than they are. Perhaps threaten them with one of your special apples.

Its not strange at all.All is normal in DVC land. Notthing out of the ordinary. and if its NOW that you are all checking rather than 3 or 4 months ago....Why would you be surprised that more places are booked.
And that AP room discount has been out for a while now, so dont be surprised there no discount rooms available
at this point...you are all too late to the game..

I know where you can pretty much secure a room though, try SSR on a cash room, there are still October rooms
available on my points if i wanted.

Each year at food and wine the crowds get bigger and bigger, soon you will HAVE to book a room a year ahead
to get to this event.

That doesn't add up. Compare the crowds in October to December. If there are almost no rooms available in October, where are people sleeping in December? The truth is Disney is only making somewhere around 60% of their rooms available this Fall due to very poor bookings.

I've found the same thing, several resorts are booked for those dates - those are the dates we're staying and I looked a bit at upgrades and found there were no rooms available at the Poly and I think the Contemporary too. Maybe even WL.

If you are concerned about your bookings, you close whole floors and buildings at your resorts to save money (and purportedly refurb the closed rooms). This creates scarcity of product however and can force upgrades. "I guess we'll have to go to Grand Floridian."

Online told me it was full last year the first week of October. Booked with my travel agent and she said she had zero issues finding a room. When we get to the resort it was a ghost town all week. I think the website tries to steer people into specific resorts rather than allow them to truly search anywhere.

I just checked and the Grand and Wilderness are available for your dates. Weird that everything else seems to be booked.

Just frustrating. I'll be on the phone tomorrow. It's just weird that they don't always completely sell out over Christmas and 4th of July but would be maxed out at just about all their resorts when school is in is weird. I know I may not get anything under the discount rate but nothing is showing up even when I don't go through that section. We would have booked earlier but my husbands work just doesn't allow him to plan 6 months + in advance...it's just how it is when he goes. When he doesn't go I'm always able to book well over the 180 day mark...ugh...this is an ultra planners nightmare lol. Sleepy apples for all!!! Ok, maybe just an apple martini, caramel apple, ok I'll look at a pic of an apple and do a flight of tequila.

you're just too late to the party, should have booked months ago, but again, theres always saratoga. In DVC land its always the goto resort when all else fails, and she always pulls through...Funny how floors arent closed ever there, that right there debunks your theory. Everyone thinks they know everything here and that they are the end all.

Who knows too, maybe this year, thats the week of Gartner, thats prob the only thing disney will take floors away for, the biggest conference disney holds every october.

Apart from the posts recently complaining of the same thing at SSR and OKW for guests on points. Disney will do what it wants its current management philosophy is to create a great product for its investors. Sorry to debunk your debunk.
