All about 'OHana

Okay, we're going to Disney in two weeks (Animal Kingdom Lodge) and we're going to have dinner at 'Ohana in the Polynesian Resort. I would like to know everything about it, the entire dynamic process including foods, atmosphere, cast members, etc. Do you have any info?

We loved dinner at 'Ohana, its like nothing you've ever done before. Go hungry because the food is very good and plentiful. The food is cooked on skewers and served from them, the CMs really get into the spirit of things. Save room for the pineapple and warm caramel sauce that follows the meal. :slurp:

The main entrees are all cooked over a pit and are served to your table on skewers: Pork, Turkey, Shrimp and Steak.

There are some tables overlooking the 7 Seas Lagoon, so you have a nice view of Cinderella's Castle.

Your non-alcoholic beverages are included in the price of the meal.

If you have young children, be prepared for them to leave you during the meal to do hula hoop and coconut pushing contests. If you don't have young children, be prepared for large groups of children to come hurriedly past your table sweeping coconuts with brooms during the course of your meal.

'Ohana means "family," so your servers are your cousins.

Like the title of your thread, I'm "All About 'Ohana" when I am at Walt Disney World!

I'm with TIGSMOM on this one!

O'HANA is AWESOME!

First, you get the POLY atmosphere of tropical island ceremonial house, then the staff greets you as one of the family (cousins, of course!), then they start bringing you food til you beg them to stop! HAHA!

The food is cooked on skewers over an open fire pit inthe middle of the dining room. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert are delicious! During the meal they have a few activities that the younger kids can participate in if they want and they play alittle "Hawaiian" music and sing a song or two. Not really a show, just a nice welcome to you for dining with them!

If you are seated at the right angle, you will also have a nice view of the Castle and fireworks at night.

After dinner its fun to walk out on the beach or take the monorail back to the park!

One thing is for sure -- YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!!!

This is one of my FAV places to eat on property! It's such a nice atmosphere, the food is great, and dessert, well, you'll see for yourself, it's very sweet :slurp:

My parents are comming down to visit, and I'm taking them to both the breakfast and dinner. The atmosphere is so good, as well as the food!

I loooove 'Ohana! The atmosphere is so fun and the food is awesome. In addition to the skewered meat, they will serve you coconut bread and a carousel of other food...green beans, rice, salad, won tons, and honey coriander chicken wings with different saucesn to dip everything in. Sooo good! :slurp:

I will echo the above sentiments and say how great Ohanas was for our family. Everything from the apps. to the delicious dessert, and the great meats and veggies in between. It was a fun place to dine, and a delicious place to eat.

And we were lucky enough to reserve a PS during Wishes and the Water Pageant.

You will ahve a great meal all around at Ohanas.

I've only been once and it was a few weeks ago. You sit down and get your drinks and stuff and then they bring this huge rotating tray and set it in the center of the table. It has all kinds of Hawaiian (I guess?) side dishes and dips and stuff. And you also get this coconut bread - although I don't like coconuts, I liked the bread. Then throughout your meal the server will come by and go around the table with a big huge skewer full of meat and slide some off to whoever wants some. Then after the meal they bring out sliced pineapple with caramel dipping sauce (so good). Throughout the meal a lady plays ukelele (sp?) and sings and there's also hula hooping contests and hula dancing for the kids. If you time your priority seating right then when Wishes starts at the Magic Kingdom they turn down the lights in the restaurant and play the narration and music from the fireworks in the restaurant. The view is SO awesome. So if you go at the right time make sure to request a window seat.

I can't really tell you if the food was good or not. I will be honest and say that I just ate my daughter's mac n cheese...not because the food wasn't good, but because I don't like meat really, especially grilled meat, and I also don't like any kind of weird stuff. I pretty much live off mac n cheese and chicken nuggets (very picky eater). But the rest of my table thought the food was fantastic. And although I didn't like the menu, I will return to that restaurant over and over again just for the atmosphere and for that awesome pineapple dessert (I DID eat that!). Enjoy!

Hey well atleast you know how to spell it right. I alwasy see O'hana (like it is Irish) or 'Ohana's (like it is some guy named 'Ohaha and he has a cafe) or the two put together O'Hana's

Well enough of that. Here is a link to some 'Ohana info.

No offense, but I thought it was kind of funny that you were concerned about the spelling of the restaurant, yet you spelled always and at least incorrectly.
