Well...the Haunted Mansion has several stories depending on who you ask, but...in general...Master Gracey built the mansion for his wife, and one way or another, she died (and is in the attic). Some stories say Madamme Leota had a part in it, and that she was Master Gracey's lover. Regardless, Master Gracey then hung himself from the ceiling of the stretch room, and this is why he says, in response to finding a way out of a chamber with no windows and no doors, "of course, there's always MY way". So yes, it is a rather dark story, and each ghost now has a story of how they died...all 999 of them. Now, back to Alien Encounter, I think the giant alien Animatronic in the tube is enough to make this ride seem kewl, even though, once again, this ride is not one of my favorites. However, many do like it, and I have a great time hearing them scream while I add to the reality of the ride..."AH!!! MY EYE!!!!" And I've always thought it was kewl that they send a real Cast Member in with a flashlight to fix things and then proceed to feed him to the alien...I don't know...I find that funny in a sick way, kinda the same way a guy trying to get out of a coffin or a corpse falling from the ceiling in the Haunted Mansion makes people laugh. And did you know when the Haunted Mansion originally opened at Disneyland, there was a man inside the armor that is now an Animatronic, who would intermittently jump out at guests! And you say scary things don't belong in the Magic Kingdom...

Well on this point I do understand both sides, yet I am a firm believer in that Disney isnt only based on children but for everyone which is why i think over the course of the last years they have decided to put in rides such as TOT, RnRC, AE, TT and possibly M:S all of which can suit adults just as well as children. Now maybe this ride might be too frightening for children but it does say it can be scary for some. Now i rode the ride for the first time when i was about 7 or 8 years old and honestly it did scare the hell out of me but i couldnt get over it i thought it was an amazing attraction and everything was extremely well thought out. Bottom line Disney is for everyone not only children and the day the suite the park to only children is the day Disney dies, the way they mix fantasy with thrill is why it has such an amazing fanbase and is one of the most popular theme parks in the world. So keep AE or at least the basis for AE which brings me to my other point. I beleive that if in fact they did decide to change AE into a type of Lilo and Stitch ride they wouldn't completly change the ride system more in fact switch it around and placing Stich in it possibly in place of the alien for an idea and instead of the alien reaking havor across the room Stich running shanagins of some sort around the room to mess around and possibly disengagng a type of electronic something or other so that children could identify with it yet still have the feeling of the unknown soi dont think the entire ride would change. And this is a very small but possible occurance but no one really knows what was planned so what if all they were tossing around was that in place of the fuzzy fellow in the transportatuion chamber they put Stitch in as just a little something to identify him within the theme parks seeing as how nothing else really does those were my initial thought on the possible changing of the ride and why i think it shouldnt ever get changed unless something involving Stitch in the preshow which would be cool and amusing.:)

:goodnevil I say fry the Stitch! (YEAH!!!) (singing) Fry the Stitch!!!!! Fry the Stitch!!!!!! He will come, eat your food, and steal your children at niiiiiiight!!!! He will then be put in a tube, and teleported! He will come out once again, crisp and fried!!!!!!!! ( not singing ) Just kidding. I don't really hold a grudge against Stitch, but I will if he pops in the ride. I like Skippy!!!!!!!!!

Well, I think you are not stating your opinion as nicely as you could. I have no problem with adult rides like TOT, etc....I do ask they be in good taste. I am not alone in my opinion.

I do wish we could ask Walt himself what he thinks of the ride?

Sorry. I was just jokin around. Oh, and hang on for a sec, "Excuse me, Mister Disney?"
Walt: "Yes?"
Me:"What do you think about Alien Encounter?"
Walt: "Well, neither me or any of my imagineers could've thought of a better ride. Also, I love that Skippy! He soooo cute."

 Sorry, I couldn't resist!

What's not in good taste about AE?

You say It is scary and none of the people or characters in it are Disney. Should ToT, Rock and Rollercoaster be there either? They don't have Disney characters in them.

I'm not trying to attack you, but I don't see your reasoning behind these comments.

There is 1 ride that I'm afraid of at Disney and that is Space Mountain. I duck everytime I get on. It seems like I'm going to be decapitated on that ride.

Well, we agree on one thing. The one coaster I hate at WDW is space mountain. I don't like the jerking and noises. I ride it with my son because my husband gets motion sick but I can't wait until it's over.

I just don't think an alien eating someone's brains is tasteful. But go have your fun.....I would like a Stitch ride but I wouldn't want others to be upset by losing something they like as much as you all like AE. I know how it feels to lose rides you like so just have fun.

Unfortunately there is no acceptable choice for me... in the future leave at least an "other" option, and maybe a few more varieties on no. :animwink:

This is the *one* attraction I could do without in the MK. I know this has no bearing on the matter, but I don't think Walt would've signed on for this project.

It's good to have a ride with some edge to it. AE provides that edge and it does an admirable job.

With some of the "logic" posted here; we should remove the Teacups. They can make people sick. They don't have a Disney character in them. They have been in the park since the beginning.

As CAPTAINHOOK said "Hands off AE"

I concur!
