Alien Encounter to close in October?!

AE...closing. Hell, I went to Disney June 15-June 21, and when we stumbled upon AE, we thought it was some kind of new ride that had just opened within the past year or two. Heck, only to find out that the thing has been opened for quite some time now, and it may be on its way out the door. Then again, the only other time I had been to Disney was back in 1993. Question, was AE open in 1993?

The ExtraTERRORextrial Alien Encounter replaced the Mission to Mars attraction (1975 - 1993).

The attraction opened on December 16, 1994. However, Michael Eisner was not pleased. The original version closed on January 1995, and the more intense (and current) version opened on June 20, 1995.

The Ride does need to close down for some sort of Rehab, you all have to admit its starting to show its age. I was there this past weekend and you can really see the scratches in the mirrors in the preshow etc.... Even if they don't do the switchover they still need to clean it up alittle

rehab would be fine, but why replace it?

I love Disney because you can get the full gammet of intensities.


I can ride It's a Small World and get that charming feeling, or ride POTC and get that mystical feeling, then ride Space Mountain and get the excitement feeling and then go on AE and get the scary feeling.

I love this attraction and would list it as one of my favorites. I have no interest at all in stitch.
