Alice reply and the state of WDW Fantasyland
Having been to both WDW and DL, I feel that the WDW Fantasyland got the short end of the stick. When WDW was being designed and built, the look of Fantasyland was based on the DL version, a sort of medival fair with tent-like facades. Then the DL Fantasyland was re-designed, supposedly like Walt originally wanted. ( I guess funds were low when it was originally built. ) Anyhow, DL got the update in 1983, while WDW stayed the same. I must admit the WDW version has tiny touches of the Alpine setting, but overall, it's the tent atmosphere. Sadly, WDW Fantasyland also has far fewer attractions in it, although the dark rides at WDW are longer than there counterparts in DL. Back in '71 it DID have the Mickey Mouse Revue, which at the time was far better than anything in the DL FL. I suppose that's where the budget went, but as time has passed, we've seen nothing but the number of attractions DECREASE. There is plenty of room for expansion, just look at the prime real estate that the 20,000 Leagues lagoon takes up. And if you notice from the WDW Railroad, there are acres waiting for developement behind all of Fantasyland. We can only hope that the Imagineers have a grand plan for the empty space. Who knows, maybe the Shadowlands ( a villian themed land where the meanies live; talked about a few years ago) will appear there. Talk about a Halloween bash.
